Hey, would you mind posting. Few more pics, I have a midnight edition and you are the first person to have onenwhtn a leer XQ top which I am also shopping at! So, I would appreciate any additional pics... also how does it do as far as water tightness goes?

I'll take some more pictures and post them soon, hopefully in the next few days. It's pretty watertight. The only time it leaks (very, very little) is when I go through a high pressure automatic car wash and it's only around the high mounted light in the cap. I've heard that a little bit of clear silicone can fix that but I haven't done it yet. It's never leaked while driving in intense thunderstorms. I also have a tailgate seal installed, that helps a lot since the gap is huge in these trucks. However, I have a feeling that all the crap that gets trapped by the seal will eventually wear the paint down, we'll see.

I thoroughly inspected the wiring and installation of my canopy yesterday and am very pleased. I have a concern that I am wondering if it is inherent with fiberglass canopies or if mine is flawed. If the sun is shining on my canopy and you look down the sides, the finish below the windows appear wavy compared to the side of the truck. The picture I've attached shows the area but does not capture the "wave". This is more of a question out of interest than a "concern".

Ripples or waves seem to vary from brand to brand and even one cap to another from the same company. They are built up by hand and some of the fiberglass doesn't get laid down properly during the process.

 

The first cap I had from Jason was bad. Waves on both sides that really stood out. The ARE I have now is perfect on the driver side and only a few ripples on the passenger side right down on the edge. Most would never notice it.

Thanks. You are correct that most wouldn't notice or perhaps even care. I thought it could also be the paint and may even out as it ages. I know I should probably be impressed with how smooth it is considering how they are fabricated! These are not stamped out by a machine.

My brand new top of the line leer 100xl had some waves and the paint had a few rough edges when delivered. The "newness" of the truck and topper wore off a bit in my mind and my Eye doesnt go straight to the flaws like they used to. I'm going on 8 months of ownership for the truck and topper. No major issues to report except for the ribbing I get from my coworkers about my "old man truck."

I appreciate your comments. I have watched youtubes on fiberglass canopies being fabricated. There is a great deal of handling by humans so there is lots of potential for inconsistencies in the final product. I was told that the Century Crown and the Century Ultra were the same except for the warranty and a few available options. I was a little concerned that maybe I shouldn't have bought the less expensive version! I am in a conflict of interest when defending my truck against the "old man truck" comments but I think these trucks look good with color matched canopies!

I smile when I read the comments of 'old man truck'. If that is the case, I have been an old man since the late 70's when I got my first truck. Cap is one of the first things I order when I get a new one. My sister doesn't understand why I have them instead of a tonneau cover but she sure likes it when I transport her furnature or other large items in rainy weather!

Softopper. Yu can get a mesh window to replace the plastic in back. Also comes with a cover to protect it when rolled up.

I’ve been thinking about getting one of these Softopppers for my 2017 CC as well. I’m curious though, what holds the back flap down against the tailgate? Does it flap or rub?

 

How have you liked it overall after having it on for a while? Any downsides or issues?
