I have a 2011 Silverado and I often plug my ipod into usb port and it works well. Today on my Samsung Galaxy s3 I downloaded Pandora radio app. I wanted to plug my phone into usb port to listen in truck and on display said device not supported or something to that affect. Can I not use my Samsung phone like I do my apple ipod?

Pretty sure the pandora app won't do it. The iPhone app I think simulates an iPod to stream pandora.

Android is not supported. I'm having the same problem with my fiancee's 2012 Malibu. I thought I had a solution by rooting and changing some settings, and I even got a different error message but still haven't successfully accessed music either stored on the device or from apps

Thanks for the input. I was afraid that is was a Android issue. Man that is frustrating since there is most likely no way to change this and I have no intention of switching to a Apple phone. I wish GM was a little more flexible they have the system built with USB port but only accepts apple, that is &%$#.

I use an old Iphone 4 which has no value at all but runs anything that I want to, if the Android has the ability to act as a hotspot you could even run any internet based apps as well

It's not that GM doesn't support Android, it is that Android does not stream via USB. GM does support Android on the Bluetooth "connected radio's"

It is pretty frustrating that GM does not support android, the platform with the largest market share in smartphones. Android 53%, Apple 40%

Tell phone makers to agree to a standard and you might have a sliver of hope. Android has more market share but it's across dozens of phones whereas Apple might have a few different models on sale now but they all run exactly the same from a car manufacturers view.
