Sort of reviving this thread here. Do I need both sets of wires if i'm just pulling RAP and ground off of this? Or only the large/small depending on my amperage?

If you are using the ground at this connector location then you need both part numbers for the wiring. The ground will be the large pin and the RAP is the small pin.

Looks like from pics that the pins may be different sizes, but can't tell from looking at that or in person.

Your eyes do not deceive. There are two different sizes of pins.

See the red text.

Just went to a dealer and tried to order them in hopes that I could get my hands on them by Friday.

IAMGMPARTS wants like $45 shipped or somethin.

Dealership? $150 plus tax.

Yea.. I'm ordering it online..

$150 at the dealer? Wtf? I would go back and ask to see the computer screen showing amounts because that invoice image I posted showing $63.35 out-the-door is from a dealership....Mark Sweeney GMC in Cincinnati Ohio to be exact. There is no way another dealer is charging $150 without being a scamming P.O.S. dealer.

They said each package of wires was $47 and the connector was another ~$43.

I've been to this dealership before where they told me doing what I'm trying to do (add footlights) would void my ENTIRE vehicle warranty.

I only went to them for location and I THOUGHT... SURELY the parts guys will be good..

nope.

Just for the priniciple alone if it were me I'd go out of my way to go back and asked them why they are charging 5x more for wiring than another GM dealership. I would then ask them "since you guys are charging entirely too much, will you order it from Mark Sweeney in Ohio and transfer the inventory? In other words I'm trying to give you my money."

In reality Mark Sweeney doesn't even have the inventory. These parts were special order and came straight from Michigan. Basically I would just try to corner them into explaining why they were charging an INSANE amount for wiring.

and lol @ voiding the entire warranty.

Na.. these folks have had 2 strikes for me.. they get one more and then I'm not dealing with them ever again.

I'm trying to install reverse lights and factory fog lights without the bcm. That's what I need the RAP for.

I need to order some harnesses for the switgches I ordered anyway so.. I'll just get em from IAMGMPARTS and just wait.. again..I just hate waiting on stuff. If I can pay a bit more for something small like this and get it like.. next day.. its worth it to me.

waiting like 2 weeks is just murder. I've got everything I need at this point EXCEPT this and the switch harnesses.

Ordered for about $49 shipped to my door from iamgmparts.

It'll take about 2 weeks to get here probably, but... a lot better than $150 at gouger chevrolet.

Just got mine in.

DO NOT BUY THIS from IAMGMPARTS. They sent me ONE of each wire for $5 each.

The bag is a qty of 5 bag. I should have gotten 5 for $5! Do they REALLY think 5 small wires are worth $25?!

theives... I may stop dealing with them all together for this. Its flat out stealing.

Hey everyone, I know this thread has been dead for a few months but I have some info to add that might be helpful for anyone trying to work with this.

Here is an upfitter link on this exact approach: GM Upffiter Bulliten #115C

It says you can order this part from the dealer as mentioned earlier in the thread which makes me wonder why this would void the warranty. What should void warranties is splicing into harnesses etc, not buying an oem connector for up-fitment purposes.

Also, you can order these parts far cheaper from Terminals & Connectors. They supply the plug, the blue latch and the pins. You just need to supply the wiring.

I would like to recommend another option.

Tap into the Factory Trailer Brake Plug. I think this is probably the cheapest and cleanest option.

In the same box below the dash next to the brake (as described above) there is either a plug (factory trailer brake) or an open spot ABOVE the pins mentioned in this thread. The plug or open spot has 4 pins. Ground, Power, Ignition, and Trailer Brake.

Option 1: Those with Factory Trailer Brake

Splice into the Accessory wire in this harness via vampire clamp or ...

Option 2: Those with OUT Factory Trailer Brake buy the pigtail from eTrailer, Part Number 3016 and cut off the end to splice into it. Or pick up a trailer brake and have both.

Here is a video showing the Trailer Brake install. This Trailer Brake needs the same power/Acc wire so its a perfect spot to tie in.

Just my two cents.. Cheap and Factory Look in the box.

Huck

You can buy a pigtail from etrailer for about $15-$20.

Know this old, was looking for ways to power my gauges. My truck came with the GM trailer brake harness to connect to this plug. Was in the glove box.
