To be honest, you need to install the muffler first and leave the rez on. If it's not loud enough, go back and have them remove it. With resonator removed you'll get a little (or a lot) more drone, depending on which muffler you choose. You might also consider having the exhaust shop leave the flapper valve on to reduce V4 "chop".

Gotcha then i'll leave it. I was just curious. I plan on doing an AFM delete with BB. Honestly i think AFM/Cylinder Deactivation is a total waste of time. Circumstances have to be completely ideal for it to even work and that's here in the Delta where it's flat. I honestly think the engine is more than efficient enough operating on all 8 cylinders.

 

Also planning on headers in the next couple of months so it's going to get a boost in sound regardless.

If you're planning on headers, I would definitely leave the resonator on. BTW, I agree with the AFM delete. 90% of my driving is city and I think V4 mode is a complete waste. Maybe if it was 90% highway I would see some benefit. But not in my case.

Got it installed. 250$ all said and done. Not bad. Much more quiet than i was expecting. A little rumble, i'll have to get some vids of it. Headers should give it quite a boost. Thus far i'm pretty pleased though.

Remember too, mufflers take a few weeks to break in. It will get a tad louder once that happens.

Amen to that! Mine was good when i got it but now that i've had it a while it sounds outstanding!

And honestly since I tuned mine and turned off v4, i think it sounds even better! Can't wait to get a custom tune!

Yup Borla ProXS 40359 just like Ryan lol i'm interested to see how it sounds in a week or two, or however long it takes to break in.

 

Need to sell my ranchos and use that cash to fast track headers.

 

So far i really like the set up, it's really grown on me. The tip looks great and while i would prefer split rear or split side it would take a lot of work to get it like i want it. I absolutely hate the way most split rear catbacks look. It just doesn't look as though it fits. The tips are sticking out the rear too much and they noticeably protrude down from the bumper. I'd have to either put cuts in the bumper like dodge has or get another bumper so it looks clean. The 2017 raptor is a good example of how to have a proper clean split rear IMHO, the tips are flush at both ends of the bumper which also tapers off to be thinner at each end, so that each tip almost looks integrated to the bumper it's perfect, despite sounding like a damn weed eater..

You should get a little more sound as it breaks in, although "packed" mufflers can take a few thousand miles to get any louder. (chambered mufflers never get louder, same after 10 years as on day 1!).

 

I agree about rear exit exhaust. This is the best look I've seen for rear exit. Kinney's Muffler Shop specializes in these. Wish it was here in KC! (I think it's in Houston???)

I've seen those turndowns from Kenny's they look absolutely great. I thought i was going to do that some time ago.

 

Are borla mufflers packed? Kind of hoping it get slightly louder but i'm pretty positive headers are going to fill that role.

Most Borla mufflers are packed..the ones sold through GM are packed.
