Nasty,

Im also interested in why you would choose the coils over the struts in this situation. This is the exact decision I am about to make. Would the coils / spindles make a better ride or are their other gains to solving this vs using struts / spindles.

thanx,

krunch

Double adjustable coilovers have more and easier adjustability.  I have had drop spindles and struts on my truck since a month after i bought (purchased september 1st 2016) and its good, but i want more adjustability and easier adjustability

Looks great.  My truck is only lowered 2/3 on 22's.  Those extra 2 inches in the rear and 4 inches on the wheels really change the look of the truck drastically.  Ive been thinking about going to a 2/4 or 3/4 drop but cant decide.  My small drop still keeps my truck funtional for light off roading and hauling trailers.

Thanks man I didn’t want to go any lower for several reasons one I want to keep some type of ride quality which I know you can do when even lower. It was just my decision not to and then also with the larger Rims and larger tire you run into extreme rubbing issues. My tires do Rub the liners on hard left and hard rights but other than that it’s fine. The truck rides really good. I love the low look but I have no plans on tubbing the rear or the front of my truck.

Trying to decide on the tire size for 22's, in between 275/40R22 and 285/40R22. Currently lowered on Belltech 2" struts and spindles up front and my stock 20's rub when turning on the inner fender liner. I'm ok with some rub but not this much. I'm leaning towards the 285/40 but not sure I'm going to gain much. These trucks look horrible with too small of tire so I don't want to go with anything 29-30" tall.

Crewcab or regular cab?  And youll rub with a 30.5 tall. Just not as bad

Id go 265 40.  Youll still have a alight rub depending on if youre 3/6 or 4/7

I am at about a 3.5/6 and did 275/45-22 on mine. Heard it rub when backing at full lock once but never heard it again.

Yeah I thought of that size too as it's not much shorter than the 275/40 @ 30.7" and 265/40 @ 30.4"

Sounds good, mine is slightly lower at 4/6.5 and the stock 275/55R20 rub quite a bit when turning. It's annoying trying to park it

Your  truck looks awesome by the way, what spacer combo do you have for your struts?

But its got less width which helps rubbing when turning

A good friend of mine installed it for me, so I'm not sure how many spacers he put in. He used this kit:

Hi guys, new member here but I've been lurking around for a while. Some great looking trucks on this thread and some really good info. I just picked up a new 18 GMC and took it straight to the garage to get it lowered. I've used Mcgaughys parts on my previous trucks, and while I liked them when I finally got them dialed in, I was really disappointed in the lack of instructions and support. Honestly, on my 14 Silverado, my mechanic buddy and I  just had to figure it out and make it work. Turned out looking great in the end but it did have a vibration that we never could get fixed. For the new truck I called BellTech and decided on the 1012SP kit and to go with a 4/6 drop. My last truck was 5/7 which looked great, but it was really too low for a daily driver on the roads around here. The BellTech kit was pretty straightforward to install and the included directions were excellent. I had a couple questions during the install but called BellTech and talked to John on their tech support line and he helped me through them very quickly. He was great to talk to and very knowledgeable. I think it turned out killer and it rides way better than it did stock. Sorry for the crappy pics, I'll post some better ones this weekend. I've still got a few things to do to finish it, but I'm super happy so far.

Looks great, since you got the 1012SP kit that has the 2" coils, struts and spindles what combination of spacers did you use to get to the total 4 inches?  How much if any rub are you getting with the 285/40R22 as well?

Per Mcgaughys instructions 2 rings will give you 2" of drop

1 ring is equivalent to .5"

    • These show the problem and symptoms, and I explain things too. to clarify again, I did not change over any computers or wiring (with the exception of the map sensor). All of the computers and wiring are original to the 2010 vehicle   video 1 - background info/explanation and part of the problem   video 2, idle misfire   I think the reason that the MAP sensor is reading High is because the engine is misfiring so there is less vacuum...   Additionally there's a p0102 for the MAF low frequency, and a p0108 for the map high voltage.        Again, apologies for the somewhat long-winded explanation, it's a rather difficult problem to explain without going into the details.
    • You'd want the Pulsar to be safe.  That was the first product that worked for 10 speed trucks that they came out with.   Range Technology 22451 Pulsar LT for 2019-2022 GM Gas Trucks     That said, in the features description of the RA003B, it does list it working with 10 speeds.  However there are reports that the RA003B can cause some drivability issues on early 10 speeds.  So the Pulsar is the safest move IMO.      Range Technology RA003B AFM/DFM Disabler   Features: Range AFM/DFM Disabler keeps you in full power 100% of the time Simply plug into your onboard OBD-II port and it instantly begins working to eliminate the AFM system Disables Auto Start/Stop Blue LEDs The Range AFM/DFM Disabler does not reprogram factory ECU Works in hundreds of applications, 2007-2022, including 10-speed models. Leaves no trace, unplug it to return to factory settings Virtually no battery draw Fits all V6 and V8 General Motors (GM) active or dynamic fuel management vehicles, includes cars, trucks, and SUVs This device does not support the 2022.5+ Refresh model trucks or 2021+ SUVs To confirm your 2022 model truck is compatible with this unit, check your VIN. • I have a 2019 new body style high country with a 6.2l L87 and a 10 speed transmission code MQB. Looking for a disabler that is compatible. Most show it’s not. I watched a video on utube from Dons Life that says Ranges RA003B is compatible but when you go to Ranges website and check compatibility it only has a 8L90 trans listed which is an 8 speed.  I don’t want to buy the wrong one. Anyone have any experience with this situation?
    • This actually happened. Be careful where you get your information re: gas price trends.
    • I understand the principle...you don't want to spend $150 for a $0.02 piece of plastic or a little screw and perch thingy.   But this is a problem that looks like it can be reliably solved with a zip tie.   That might hold you over until you can score one at a pick-a-parts yard.
