Take it elsewhere. They should be measuring the angle of the driveline to determine if you even need shims. Like I said its not something you can eyeball. If I were you I'd take it to a 4wheel parts store. The deal with driveline issues from lifting trucks all the time. Plus since they are a corporation, they will get it right or you can take it back. The only down side it they are probably more expensive than most places. For them to add shims, carrier bearing kits, and get all the driveline measured correctly on my truck its running me about $300, $100 of which is parts.

Lol im at a 4 wheel parts store, they are taking the shims back out has alot of vibration, they do not know what is causing the clacking sound when i hit a bump they may install the stock shackle to see if the belltech one is bad.

Well update, they cleaned up my leaf springs and for several hours it did not clunk over a bump but it's slowly coming back so i have no ideas but to spend more money to find someone else to fix this. Also truck is shaking like crazy at 63 mph. they installed 2 shims with fat end facing front and made it worse so they recommended no shims.

Have you checked to see if the top of the spring eye on the shackle end is hitting the bed seam? If done correctly the front spring eye bolt should have been loosened and both front and rear bolts tightened with the truck setting on the ground.

I didnt loosen the front bolt. I figure it was tightened correctly at the factory and since I didnt loosen it, no need to readjust. I havent had any noise or binding either. But you bring a good point on the bed seam, that could be the issue.

You proved my point... yes it was tightened at the factory at ride height, now you have raised the back of the spring 2" and therefore preloaded the front bushing. loosening the bolt will let the bushing relax in it's natural position. These aren't poly bushings that slip inside of there casing they are vulcanized molded to the steel casing that surrounds them.

They told me many times its not the shackle hitting the bed, i got underneath yesterday with the tech the bed seams were folded back and got my fingers above the shackle. I went over everything you guys brought up to check while i was underneath with the tech, they just dont know what is clunking over bumps, and bigger mystery to them is the occasional pop sound in reverse when backing in on your blind side.

Hi guys, ......Karen here!

I am purchasing a new 2015 GMC Sierra 2500, diesel, 4WD, double cab.

My gooseneck trailer has a ground clearance of 66.0"

The truck bedrail height is 59.5"

I can't raise the gooseneck trailer.

Can the truck be lowered? It would be nice to have more clearance between the bedrails so I don't run the risk of hitting the trailer and not have such a big step up to the seat. Any advice?

1) If it can be done, any idea what it would cost to have it professionally done?

2) Is there a BEST way to do this?

3) Will a GMC dealer do it?

4) Is there someone out there between Indiana and Oregon that is a pro at this?

5) Will dropping the truck void my warranty?

Thanks, Karen.

If you could...take a picture of the area where the spring sit's on top of the axle and post on here so I can see if the 2500's have a block or not. If it does it can be removed by loosening the u bolts and pulling it out.

Well, I finally got the carrier bearing kit installed yesterday. They ended up using 4 degree shims and the carrier bearing to get everything lined up. I thought the 4 degree shims were a bit extreme but the truck has no more vibration or humming like it used to. Plus if I ever decide to go lower all I should have to do is get new shims and the carrier realigned.

Im curious about this vibration, whole truck shaking, that I'm getting at 63-70 mph. I thought it could be the tires but had them balanced twice now and sometimes it goes away, i do not notice it at lower speeds.

I can't remember but did you do this after a shackle install?

I did a shackle install and block removal. My truck is a crew cab standard bed though. It seems RCSB trucks dont experience a lot of issues. You may want to check the driveshaft length and check out the vibration issues thread. Of course you did say it didnt appear until the shackle install. Any good suspension shop should be able to help. FWIW I still get the popping noise in reverse on my passenger side. Not always but it is present. Unsure what is causing it.
