Man... no awesome miracle cure for 25+ mpg... haha. Oh well I had been thinking about a volant.. or similar cold air system... but if it doesn't seem to do much... might not.

If you guys are going by the computer on the trucks for your MPG and have not adjusted the tire height via a tune, your getting false readings.

My speedo is dead on with my GPS, I get 15.5 on the display and hand calculated driving between 70 and 75.

I drive 60 miles rounds trip everyday.

Got a leveling kit and 33 12.5 18 toyo's

MIT Airaid tube and Magnaflow 3" in and 3" out.

Im replacing spark plugs and wires here in a couple weeks. Im sure it still has the stock ones with 100,000 miles.

ARE Tonneau cover, +2mpg.... Interstate driving.

Love it! Now if only a less restrictive exhaust and cold air intake got me to 25 I'd be golden.... anybody had a good tune that got them mpg?

my 2006 Silverado (Named Bud) maintains 16.7 MPG. Have 3.42 gears and a canopy on back. Mostly drive to-from work at 60MPH.

16 average if I baby it but let's be honest that's not fun I get 12 when I drive like I do but I've been babying it lately until I get the synthetic oil back in

Why?

My experience is that the cold air intakes only make the engine louder when you floor it . I've seen no performance or mileage gains.

Same here, put SLP's cai on a 2001 5.7/6 speed Trans Am & did not see anything noticeable. Granted that has been 10 years ago & have not put one on a truck.

Afterwards put their headers with high flow cats, new exhaust with free flow muffler out the back & it sounded AMAZING. But again do not remember

anything noticeable in terms of mpg.

I think its funny when people buy CAI the name itself is inaccurate - its taking air from inside the engine compartment.

I put an airaid mit tube on and didn't notice much difference. When i floored it it actually vibrated my dash so i put stock back on..lol. But the best i got was 23 on a mostly downhill and flat 100 mile trip. That was when my truck was stock and still had the afm.

Its so sad to hear that the marketing for cold air intakes and the airaid tubes is so misleading and they do pretty much nothing.... I've heard the same thing for my mx-5 and accord.

Oh well. Good to know that more money thrown at my truck isn't gonna help anything mpg-wise in terms of intakes and exhaust.

Anybody had any luck with superchips or similar OBD-II tuners?

I am getting a solid 15.3 on my 2013 GMC extended cab 5.3 4X4. It does have a fiberglass cap, but it does not extend above the cab. Its actually the only negative thing I have to say about the truck in the last 30,000 miles. That is with 70% highway/interstate, 20% rural country roads and 10% City or stop and go type traffic.

It does not change with cargo or without, with cruise or without, GM's window sticker estimates of 15 City and 21 are just not anywhere near real world. A coworker and my brother have the same exact truck and they report the same mileage, no way to get over 16 mpg.

I took a trip to watertown NY a few months ago (300 miles round trip) and had the cruise set for 73 (its a 65 zone) and manually calculated after a full fillup and did acheve 15.8 on that tank. Truck was empty, only myself and 36 lbs in tires.
