LED bulb change caused electrical issue

Hey guys,

So I received my LED bulbs in the mail yesterday to change out the map/dome lights in the truck. When I replaced the last bulb in the front there was a spark when I was pushing one end in probably due to the other side of the bulb touching something other then the contacts.

Now I am have issues with the lighting in my truck. The dome lights work fully when the doors are open and dim properly. However, there is basically no light at all when pressing the map light button manually on either four lamps (front or back). Also, the vanity mirros (sun visors) lights no longer work on either driver or passenger side when opened. It doesn't end there. I was driving after at night, and when my wife tried again the sun visor lights, it turned off every single dash backlighting. When she closed it, they all came back on. Hard to believe all this was caused from a bulb change but it happened.

I checked the courtesy lamp fuses and it wasnt blown. The lights still come on, but everything is out of whack. Any clues for a fix? I read online that the lights are connected to the BCM and it may have shorted out. Hope it's simpler then that.

I've heard some horror stories like this. :( I agree with SILVERADOSC540. Post up after you've been able to disconnect the battery for an hour to see if that 'resets' the system. Hoping it is just something silly that was set within the BCM that needs to be cleared. Your truck is too new to have an odd electrical short issue, IMO.

Sounds like you shorted something out.

Hi Chevman,

We are sorry you are experiencing electrical problems with your truck. Can we offer any assistance with this? Although we are unable to provide any technical information, we'd be glad to research this further and give your dealership a call on your behalf. Please send a PM with your VIN and contact info if any extra help is needed.

Best,
