Found some interesting thing behind the LCD screen

Took my radio apart today and found some slots open.Not sure what is it for..

The Brown one looks like USB and not sure what the round White one is

and the blck one below:

 

May be one of them is video upgrade for RSE?

White one looks like a satellite connection. Either GPS or XM related maybe? The USB could be spare/for service. I don't know how they are now but for a few years the standard sync system on the F150 had an extra/unused USB on the back you could add an extension to and have another charging port.

The round one looks like a spare to the one on the left. The black cable plugged in and already there. Where does that go to? The XM antenna?

Does GM still use their odd size for the antenna plug? Other one could be for a standard antenna.

GM has a project in the works with AT&T where vehicles will be a hot spot for Wi-Fi. It might have something to do with that.

 

If you go to the GMC website to build a truck, there is an option for that already but the description says it's available on some models like Acadia...don't recall exactly which ones. I never tried to add it to a truck build. It was approx. $500 for that option.

Sh00ter is talking about the wireless module I think. It is available now and has been for sometime. It's dealer installed and yes does interface with At&T. They are really not well integrated at this time so I don't know why you would go with this approach.

I used to travel a lot for work, I'd take my verizon mifi along and was able to "listen" to Direct TV NFL Sunday ticket games. ( Go Denver!!!) On my IPAD.

 

I'm sure the GM hot spot is salty for sure!

Maybe the onstar module?? I know on my 2012 it had an open plug on the vcim and that is what the nav used to get the voice control to the navigation.
