5.3 versus 6.2

Hey guys,

So I went in today to grab the 5.3 all terrain and the sales guy told me he could

get me a 14 Denali with a 6.2L - which I love the look of.

Even though the Denali is awesome, my concerns were the fuel economy.

The salesman claims that the real world MPG differences are that of 1 mile per gallon

between the 5.3 and the 6.2.

So, from my research Denali 6.2L engines seem to get 14 city and 20 high way,

how true is this?

Let me know, because I need to make the decision tomorrow...thanks everyone!

I find it hard to believe, there are a few topics right now for the 5.3 MPG and the average I'm seeing is 13-16 mpg with a few people actually getting the 18 mpg were suppose to.... Lots of DIC pictures floating around...

Yea, you are gonna have a tough time keeping your foot out of the 6.2L if I have a tough time keeping MY foot out of MY 5.3L. These new motors have some balls. I'm getting betwen 16-18 around town with a lot of stop and go though.

19.8mpg on my recent 180 mile round trip with my 6.2l. 90% freeway, light wind and with cruise set at 70 for the most part. Thats with less than 500 miles on it. I am so good with that. Thats with 91 octane 10% ethanal. Dont think about the milage as it doesnt seem to be much of an issue vs if you are up to dropping 2k extra for that motor.

Thanks! I'm deff. going to go with the 6.2L then. I'm trading in my 2014 Mercedes Benz CLS550 I paid $85,000 for...gonna get the fully loaded Denali, 22" LPO wheels and 4 inch black sides + $12,000 cash back. Just gonna use the $12k for the fuel and have a blast!

85,000 ouch!!!

Yeah I know...I'm losing my ass on it, but screw it. Just gonna get the Denali and then lease the new S-Class on the side.

I'm a big dude, 6'2 so the comfort of the Sierras is a must.

Thanks man! How do you like the look in real world vs. all terrain? and how's the ride quality in terms of comfort

and quietness...I haven't gotten a chance to see the Denalis anywhere yet, but I saw a few all terrains.

If your willing to pay the 2 grand up charge I dont think its going to make a world of a difference. your probably looking at 1-2mpg less along with paying 30-50 cents more a gallon for premium. Problem with the 6.2 is if you rod on it, its probably conceiveable to be around 12-13mpg mark
