Tonneau Cover Cleaner/Treatment

Ok, I just put an Extang Trifecta cover on my new Silverado. Whats the best cleaner or treatment for it. All the manufacturers have their own very expensive products and most say not to use ArmourAll. There has to be a good but cheaper solution.

Me too, amazing stuff. I threw all the armor-all in the trash when I got the 303.

Yes, add me to the Aerospace team!!! Also, add me to the "throw away the Armour All" team. I honestly don't believe you can find anything better than the Aerospace 303 for your Extang cover, or any interior or exterior vinyl or rubber surfaces you want to clean. It wil make any surface slick, so you don't want to use it on you step bars. Armour All, over time will turn it grey,or even white, if you continue to use it. I used it for years. However, I'm older now, and a little wiser. The last time I used Armour All was 1987, I can easily remember because I know what car I used it on last and when I owned that car. I remember when I was a teenager and maybe early twentys, before Armour All, I would use Pledge on the vinyl interior. It was a little slick, and someitmes hard to stay in your seat in a corner, but man did it shine and look good. Just a little historical car detailing data from the 60s.

 

Actually there is a lot of good products available, but Aerospace 303 is a good all purpose detail product and reasonably priced. You can also get a decent product from Zaino, Adams, Mequiars, etc,. However, some of it will run down the sides of the truck when it rains on it. Aerospace is pretty good about staying put. Hope this helps.

Not every wash and recommend light towel buff after and do not put on too heavy. Has sun protection and is water resistant. My Perls wash keeps things pretty sharp on total ride. Two bucket wash always.

ArmourAll has silicone. Tonneau cover makers say silicone is bad. I'm not a chemist, so I'll go with their opinion.

I use 303 only now. I started using 303 on the pontoon boat seats after the dealer recommended the product about 5 years ago. I thought at first it was a gimmick until I checked online. I can see the difference on boats seats well after it is applied. It makes a big difference in protecting the tonneau cover. I order it in gallon quantity and have been using it on my vehicles, boats, atv's, tractor, etc. Great stuff!

Where do you buy the 303 at? Wal-mart or an auto parts store? Is it priced equally to Armor-all or it more?

I've used Adams and I found the Extang cleaner reasonably priced on Amazon.

Both work well.

I bought some at Overton's marine because I was at their Raleigh location but you can get a better price on Amazon or Ebay. Usually around $38.00 a gallon. Armor all will be cheaper but apply them both to separate materials and watch the difference after weeks or months. The 303 has excellent UV blockers in it.
