Dj0nes Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Looks like alpine has some spot on ideas for the summer. Not much info released yet but I figured I'd throw this out there. Price will be steep I hear 2500. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Chadwilliam1 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I am trying to find for info on this. I would love to have one of these.
Strykers_Inc Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 This is one of the head units it have been contemplating. http://alpine-usa.com/product/view/gm-navigation-x009-gm/ http://www.crutchfield.com/S-KQA7UbmAnNu/p_500X009GM/Alpine-X009-GM-In-Dash-Restyle-System.html Unfortunately it does not fit according to crutchfield.
Chadwilliam1 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 That thing is slick. I dont care for the one that came with the truck.
Strykers_Inc Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 The model that is actually pictured is the Alpine INE-W957HD which does fit, but is a 7 inch display and half the cost. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500W957H/Alpine-INE-W957HD.html?tp=20212 The reason I don't plan to change the head unit immediately is due to the vehicle control features which do not seem to be accessible without factory head unit or the additional purchase of something like iDatalink Maestro. I will see if I can find some others.
Black14crew Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Use your stock head and add a signal processor with a real amp like the audiocontrol dq-61 or rockford 3sisty.3 you will be better off and cost 1/3 the price.
TenofMe Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 The reason I don't plan to change the head unit immediately is due to the vehicle control features which do not seem to be accessible without factory head unit or the additional purchase of something like iDatalink Maestro. The iDatalink Maestro for the K2XX is in now beta. I read it over on their forum. It should be out this year. If it works as advertised, it should let you retain all factory controls and settings through the aftermarket touchscreen. That will be a nice alternative to the current system. And an easy way to add CarPlay or AndroidAuto if that rings your bell.
Spurshot Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I've been rolling this around...I figure it'll be near the unit's retail of $2700 by the time it's installed. Add $500 for Maestro and other stuff and this thing will climb over $3k in a hurry. I asked myself...'Am I gonna be $3000+ happier?' I'm not thinkin so at this time.
Sierra_0321 Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Anyone install the Alpine INE-W957HD in a Sierra yet? I am hoping to upgrade from my 4.2.
Gabe63 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Well, Alpine told me they will be releasing a new solution for our 2014-15 at CES in January 2016. I bet it is the 9 inch screen and integration they have used in other systems. They wont say before the official release, I don't blame them. I am excited to see the option, not sure I will cough up the $3k + I expect it will cost. I would love to have true RCA outputs from a quality source unit to power new components off an amp. My base system is not horrible, but is in no way what a quality aftermarket sound system would be.
Spurshot Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I'm pretty sure I'm not diggin in my pocket for $3k for a radio and nav. I have a factory nav, a smartphone, a Garmin, and a cellular iPad. I don't watch videos in my truck nor is it on my list of must haves. If someone were to do a Garmin interface with the factory 8" system for a reasonable cost, I'd do that
moosehead1 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I tried, in vain, not to open this thread. The circa $3k total price of entry makes it easy to close it up for awhile, and I love prior Alpine stuff in both auto and marine. +1 to a line-out processor for additional linked power, subs, speakers while maintaining the OEM head unit.
Gabe63 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Don't get me wrong, the chances of me doing this are very low. I would not do it for the Nav, my only desire is for sound quality. I used to cringe at an Alpine deck over $200 back in the day, the prices are crazy now. But the dream of a true high quality 24bit DA converter and RCA outputs that I can run to a quality amp are a dream after buying this new truck. Being a car stereo guy of the 90's, owning many (and I mean many) high quality amps and speakers I cannot imagine converting the stock head unit to RCA and getting what I want. I remember buying a $650 RF amp in 1996 that was very highly reviewed. It sounded like junk compared to the Orion and Soundstream amps I had. I realized then that not everyone was concerned about the details of sound quality, it would play loud. So will the Alpine bring me $3k in happiness? I doubt I will be willing to find out. But I can dream a little, right? Still excited to see what they release!
Gabe63 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 For those interested I amp dying to install this amp in my truck!!!
