It came standard on my LTZ Texas Edition 4x4 and LTZ Z71 4x4, I don't know about other models since I did not look at them when I bought my two trucks.

Also comes with the SLT Preferred package I believe. Can be had as a single option, $100.

Both of mine have the full front console with bucket seats.

When I ordered my LTZ (1LZ with a bench seat) it was standard but a few weeks back they made it a free flow option. I was actually worried my truck was going to be built without it. It did show up with it but it was broken out on the window sticker as a $100 option.

My SLE V6 doesn't have it. I like it for the adjustment however, I prefer the traditional tilt only for the fact that I can quicly hit the lever and the wheel gets outta my way.

Bumping an old thread for a stupid question...

I just bought a GMC Sierra 1500 with all the options I wanted save one... the telescoping steering wheel. I know this is probably crazy but...

What would it take to switch out the column? Is a simple switch of a couple parts and reassemble or are we talking a massive expensive undertaking?

If it isn't too bad, I might try to change it over. if it is huge, I'll live with the minor inconvenience. Anyone know?

Talk to the selling dealer service department about the cost of conversion. If your like me, you won't be able to live with the minor inconvenience of a non-telescoping steering wheel, I'm tall and absolutely detested "reaching" for the wheel on my '12 GMC. Good luck, I hope you can work something out.

Yeah I have long legs and I love being able to move the seat back to a comfortable leg reach and then being able to bring the steering wheel closer. I have an LT with the All Star Package.
