Headrest removal

I would like to remove the headrests in the back seat. Searched on the forum but I couldn't find anything regarding how to remove them. Has anyone tried to remove them?

I have not looked at the new ones yet. The old style had a small pin hole at the point where it goes into the seat. If you pressed in that hole with a paper clip they would come out.

Manaul calls for you to take it to the dealer.

 

If you want to do it yourself, Paperclip on the base of each post. Push the paperclip in pull up on one side of the headrest. You'll see the pinhole on the post base.

Yep. I took mine out to better fit child seats. Use a strong paperclip.

What paper clip? Mine could be removed like any ordinary vehicle, but it's a double cab though.

Ryan, Yes, I did look at the manual and it said to return to the dealer (as Steve pointed out as well). Good to year about the paperclip and will try that.

A small nail will also work

 

Wtf take it to a dealer? My 2010 manual shows how to remove them. Guess they figure people can't do things for themselves nowadays

Someone probably pricked their finger and filed a lawsuit. You know how this country is nowadays.

That or someone would think you have to hammer the nail into the seatpost....never underestimate the power of stupidity.

Any one try the other way? I would like smaller ones for the front bench seat.

I remove the headrest in my Wet Okole seat cover review, skip to the middle I believe to see the rear seats. I used two tiny Allen wrenches for the front and rear headrests.

I have a 2018 regular cab.  I too would like to put smaller ones from back seat in front.  Is the "spread" the same?  Will this idea work?
