I am getting ready to update to a 20" wheel (chrome 20" Sierra SLT wheels) and am deciding on tires... 60% highway / 35% gravel roads/ 5% mud

Tire size will be a 275/60/20 with either a 1" or 2" level up front. The following prices are shipped to my door with all charges, rebates and the tires weight.

Goodyear Wrangler SRA - $499 (40lbs)

Cooper AT3 - $643 (48lbs)

Toyo AT2 - $944 (43lbs)

I was in love with the Toyo AT2s until their price.. I can get the coopers and order the level kit and a cai and still have money for beer!

I currently have the Goodyear SRA on the truck in a 265/65/18 flavor and I don't hate them but havent heard one good thing on them? But for $499.. it stayed in as a contender.

My question is, is anyone running the cooper AT3s? Likes? Dislikes? Other suggestions to a semi-aggresive AT tire with a good value?

TIA

I run the ATP, it's pretty similar to the AT3. With those prices though, I'm assuming you're looking at 4 ply tires? 4 ply tires suck on gravel roads.

Posted

Yes they are all 4 ply tires. I have ran 10 ply in the past and would prefer not too again (weight and price). By not holding up, I am guessing more prone to punctures?

Yeah I had lots of flats with 4 ply. But I drive on some pretty mean gravel. If you haven't had issues with the Goodyears you should be fine with just about anything lol.

I think you'd like the Coopers.

My dad has the AT3's on his '80 Silverado and he absolutely loves them. We manage construction projects so the trucks get off the road quite a bit and he has said he will never buy anything else. Great all around tire, he does have the 10 ply on his truck though.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on buying a replica set as I came across a local deal on an OEM set off of a 2014 Sierra Denali. So for now I will be running the stock size that came with them (275/55/20) .. shouldn't be too long until I upgrade since the stockers on the wheels are the sh!t LS-2 tires.

Too bad they say Denali and GMC centre caps.Yup lots of stock take offs available around my neck of the woods as well.I'm going with the Mayem 8015 blk with machined with Cooper Zeons 275/60 r 20.Will have them on next week. What did you pay for the oem set?

I am changing the center cap and having them say Denali on the rim isn't a deal breaker. There are a lot of take off sets in CA, not so much in PA. Good luck with your setup, I'd love to see pics of the 275/60/20 setup.. that's what size I will run once I burn off the stockers. I got the OEM set cheaper than what the replica set would have run me and it includes the lug nuts but no sensors (which is fine as I will swap the ones I have to em).

If you don'y mind me asking where are you getting the pricing for thes tires?

Treaddepot.com

Thanks that's prob the best prices I've seen. I'm leaning toward the AT3

I like the cooper AT3 and the ATP only difference is the road noise from what I have read and the price.

275/55/20 749.72 ATP and 275/60/20 ATP 813.27.

275/55/20 860.12 AT3 and 275/60/20 AT3 921.39.

I too have the 14 denali rims and will post pix when the weather breaks.

I have the ATP and I am not a huge fan of them. Hard to get balanced right, and pretty noisy and I only have 3k miles on them. In addition to that they ride pretty harsh for a 4-ply tire @35 lbs. They look awesome on a leveled truck but I will probably go a different direction with the next set of tires. I hear great things about the at3's though.

I have the 10 ply and I really like them. Can't imagine the 4 ply being rough. I've had mine for about 10k. Never had an issue with balance.
