so ive been checking my wheels and ive been looking around online, im trying to find out definitivley if my high country wheels are chrome alloy or chrome clad. ive found more evidence of them being chrome alloy. i still dont know for sure and i dont have the experienced eye to tell by looking at them. my common sense tells me chevy wouldnt put chrome clad wheels on their uplevel trucks. id like to know FOR SURE.

I'd hope the top of the line isn't clad, but the easiest way to tell is just to tap on them with your fingernail. If it sounds like plastic it's prob clad wheels.

No clad this time around on any wheel I think. You can tell by looking at the edges where they meet the rubber wheels. It would look like thin hub caps.

I like mine. I am wondering if the Goodyear LS2 tires will do okay in the sand. I will be taking it off road on the beaches of the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

I didn't think GM used chrome clad wheel/caps?? Toyota sure does. The new Tundra 1794 edition top of the line(very nice I might add) has a chrome clad wheel as well as the "limited" edition Tacoma. I'm sorry but that cheap crap belongs on bottom of the line models!

I like mine would of rather got the black 22in wheels but truck rides so nice im scared to mess with it

Yes they did, my 2012 wheels I still have a pic of in my sig had the chrome clad wheels and I had trouble with the plastic covers cracking by each spoke and or the chrome peeling off. That truck was on it's second set of wheels. Although I don't think the 2014's do but if you look at the edge of the wheel by the bead area you could see a gap between the cover and the rim.

My 2014 Expedition has Chrome Cladding as did my 2010 Expedition. My 2014 LTZ z-71 has true chrome wheels and I am very happy about it.

On an LTZ!! That sucks! It's that second lip I look for and you can feel it behind the spoke as well. If you catch it with your finger nail you can hear the plastic. That's how I discovered the two Yota's that way. Damn Dodge I think led this fake crap when they used some on their 20" truck wheels a few years ago.

have yall noticed that when gm produces vehicles it kinda seems the first few year models have good looking wheels and the later year models get the cheap clad or just ugly wheels?

All manufacturers start looking to cut costs on every product every year after a product is introduced.

Wifes Lincoln MKX ($50k SUV) has chrome clad wheels, my 2010 Sierra crew cab All Terrain with the 18's also had chrome clad wheels.

I just had my 20" wheels changed today and the guy said these were not chrome clad. He also said the 2014 rims are in good demand and I should recover almost all of the cost of my new wheels from selling these.
