snarkee Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Snarkee, what is wrong with your truck? not a max tow? The 5.3 tows it fine however I am at my payload limits I ordered LT tires and may throw on some bags over the winter.
Knepp1bj Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 what is the weight on it? I have a 35 ft (37 with tongue) and only weights 7300 lbs cat scale verified fully loaded
peejaykay Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I got a sweet deal on a Propride 3P so I'll be using that with my '15 LT308BHS. The trailer is going to push a max-tow 1500 to its limits on payload, possibly over the GCWR/GVWR slightly when loaded full. So piece of mind with a great hitch was worth it to me. Will post my towing experience from Indiana to Los Angeles in a few weeks when I go pick it up.
Jon A Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 New three horse slant. Very nice. Around 9,000 lbs with three horses and a bunch of gear, etc. Pics from recent elk hunt:
airman734 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 This is what I am towing. After towing that for the summer, I decided to add bags just to help out. They are now installed but I won't get to try them out until next spring.

Around 9,000 lbs with three horses and a bunch of gear, etc. Pics from recent elk hunt:is your truck a max tow with 3.73 gear?does it seem to pull the 9000 pounds fairly easy? I ask because mine is a 6.2 with 3.42 gear and I will be towing my toy hauler which will be around 8000 pounds when loaded with motorcycles but not until next year,I did hook my trailer up for a test tow when my truck had the required 500 break in miles on it and it seemed to do a pretty darn good job but I only went around 15 miles and the trailer was empty of motorcycles ,I am a little concerned because I have read a few posts lately of people complaining about there trucks pulling prowess with a lot less weight but these where 5.3's so may make somewhat of a difference.

Mine isn't max tow, it has 3.42's and also has 34" tires so some gears will certainly make it better--I'm planning to put 4.10's in when I get a chance. But realistically it'll be more of a nicety than a necessity. It pulled the trailer very easily--I was accelerating up steep hills at 65 MPH without much effort. This is at 5000+ ft elevation where it has less power as well. I do have longtubes, CAI, etc, which certainly helps some. Peoples' experiences with the 5.3's aren't really that relevant to the 6.2. The 6.2 has as much torque at 2000 RPM as the 5.3 does at 4000 RPM which makes for a much different towing experience.
jamin87ss Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Going to be towing this beast with my 2015 4wd sierra. Dealer says 12 weeks for delivery I went with the 5.3 with max trailering (3.73) Boat and trailer is 9600# with about 800# of tongue weight! Did you evry tow this? or is anyone else at the 10k mark with a 5.3? what gears and how sit doing?
Monstertorch Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Finally passed the 1k mark last week and took our trailer out for a spin to see how well the 6.2L did at towing. While we were out, I did a full fuel load in the truck, quads, and spare cans then weighted in. Here's the results. Overall I was really impressed with how well our Sierra pulled vs our old tow vehicle. Can't wait to take it on a long trip now!
12amrdr Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 My 2012 5.3 wouldn't tow This boat up a grade with out putting me in the right or emergency lane. Love my 6.2 it tows the boat like a champ
peejaykay Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Towed my 37ft Open Range LT308BHS 3-slide travel trailer home from Michigan to Los Angeles. 2700 miles. It weighs 9100lbs empty, 10,500 loaded ready to go for a week. I pack heavy. 3.73s and 5.3 left me confident that the truck can do it no problem. I am using a propride 3P anti-sway hitch. Highly recommended.
