What are you towing with your 2014?

Did you evry tow this? or is anyone else at the 10k mark with a 5.3? what gears and how sit doing?

 

Without weight distribution, you will get approximately 2" in sag with a max tow 5.3.

First trailer behind my 2014, it's the GF's dad's… Go me looking for one of my own, comes in handy when going to the dump or going for projects and parts…

Truck tows it great, even with out the trailer brakes, didn't even notice it back there…

Towed my 37ft Open Range LT308BHS 3-slide travel trailer home from Michigan to Los Angeles. 2700 miles. It weighs 9100lbs empty, 10,500 loaded ready to go for a week. I pack heavy.

 

3.73s and 5.3 left me confident that the truck can do it no problem. I am using a propride 3P anti-sway hitch. Highly recommended.

The best part is the collar rotates with detents so you can tune the light to the housing then run in a set screw to lock it in place.

I averaged 10.x something most of the way. Some sections were lower due to heavy wind. I went 55-60 the whole way. 55 on a flat road, it would go into 6th and V4 mode. We hit 14.9mpg towing for a 30-40mi stretch! Mid 10s, average. Some hills and grades. Northwest texas is around 3500-4500ft elevation, same with New Mexico and Arizona.

I'm towing a 36' travel trailer (Keystone Cougar 33RBI), 3-slides, 8500 pounds, 1100 pounds tongue weight, with my 5.3L Sierra. It has plenty of power for towing, but I'm getting some porpoising at highway speeds when I hit rough patches. I'm using a ProPride hitch. I towed a smaller (7500 pound) travel trailer previously and I didn't even know it was back there. I'm looking for ways to improve the suspension to dampen out the porpoising. I've researched Timbrens, airbags, super springs, and Torklift Stableloads. Any suggestions?

If you go to post #141 of this thread I give an in-depth technical explanation of what porpoising is, what causes it and how to fix it. To make a long story short, the guy who was complaining about it fixed it by putting more air in his airbags.

Thanks Jon, good write up! But are the Timbrens, Super Springs, and Torklift Stableloads all solving the problem the same way as air bags? I like those options better simply because of their simplicity, but if airbags are the way to go, then that's where I'll go.
