update #8

Just picked up my 2011 z71 suburban which the dealer had since Thursday, Jan 22.........you guys aren't gonna believe this sh*t. I couldn't make this up. Upon dropping it off last week, I said over and over I need it back on Tuesday, Jan 27........message from service manager " can we drive it to you on wednesday morning" No I'm leaving at 5Am I need it tonight........service mgr" Ok, its at the Dodge dealership"( 15 miles across town, different owners etc,,)...........me, " you're f****ing joking right ?" srv mgr, " No, they are painting the frame there " So I go to Dodge tonight to get my Chevy, wtf.....The paint is so wet I can smell it parked outside, high gloss black in some sections, flat black in others, overspray on shocks , spare, transfer case, etc.......I only looked under for 30 seconds, couldn't even believe my eyes

I can honestly say my truck looks like it was in a wreck and repaired in Tijuana.................Its going straight to Ford tomorrow to buy one of the few remaining Raptors left. I don't care what they give me for it, its over,,,,,,,,,,,,now Im getting drunk,,,,,,,,buenas noches GM

Not to be a smart ass but this is how I figured it would turn out. I said before, I saw a brand new white diamond tri-coat silverado that had this same thing done. That tar like shit was everywhere! On the paint, on the inside of the wheels, everywhere. Its a shame. I guess I'm paying Ziebart

Ziebart told me they are well aware of the frame problems with GM trucks. They said they will pressure wash the underside of the truck but will not guarantee it will adhere to the GM wax coating. They aren't going to completely remove the wax coating before they apply their undercoating. In other words, when the wax coating flakes off, the ziebart coating gioes with it.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I present you with a pic of Chevy/GM corrosion repair.....................I think I need not even say anything more

Wow .... like someone's 4 year old daughter painted it .... :nonod:

Again, Ziebart uses two undercoatings. The wax (basically a clear version of the wax on the GM frame) goes on and inside panels, and the frame gets a standard rubberized undercoating. I was set on having my last Dodge done by Ziebart until they told me the process. It's a lot of money for something that I can do myself with rattlecans from the local parts house.

That's why I suggested FluidFilm, its a wax and will adhere to the GM coating (again, I have it on my truck). Its not the end-all answer, because you are at the mercy of the guy spraying it...they barely hit the inside of my frame. But for those of us keeping our truck, its a start. I think it cost me nearly $200 to have FluidFilm applied.

Another expensive DIY is chain lube...its a rattlecan waxy stuff. I sprayed it as a base on my Dodge in a hotel parking lot. Followed that with oil the following year.

Although this rust is happening way too soon on a new vehicle, every make of vehicle will eventually rust. Eventually we all are forced to address this issue on our own. I've been doing rust prevention of my own vehicles for 30 years...its a never ending battle.

I had Zeibart do my bed back when the truck was showroom new. The coating has held up VERY well over the years. Exceeded my expectations. Only thing I didn't appreciate was the fact they dragged their hoses all over my bed rails while spraying the bed. When I picked the truck up (only had 200 miles on it) I could see the hairline scratches in my black paint 10 miles away.

Coating was 1/8" thick, which surprised me. Don't know if they've cheaped out since then or not. Cost me $400 at the time (Spring of '07).

WTF ... seems I can't upload pics here anymore ....

We'll try this .... Here's a link to Photobucket:

rdbaja,

That's pathetic, truly a $H!T job. Send a copy to GM just to let them know what a wonderful job of keeping loyal customers happy this dealer is doing. Give a Tundra a test drive, I love there power rear window.

Holy CRAPtastic job Batman! Did they even try to spray the truck while painting your tire????

We are talking undercoating, not bedliner. Their claim to fame was their undercoating.

After all this, I can't believe the two GM reps that were frequent on this forum haven't even made a peep.
