Denali exterior vs All-terrain exterior - thoughts?

Another completely incorrect post by Won. Removing the vent ducting has NOTHING to do with the cooling performance. It'll just vent differently. There is no plan for a redesign from what I've been told. This is a nit of an issue.

This is literally the last thing preventing me from purchasing my 14 denali 6.2.... so i want to make sure i am clear....there is a tsb on this and my dealer can fix it? will it involve ruining my seats? example - the leather is never quite the same if it has to be removed, etc.

I don't know how the TSB is implemented - call your service center. It may be that new trucks already have it done as well - I don't know.

Definitely don't let the seat exhaust sway your decision, it's not that big of a deal.

When you say its not that big of a deal, what are you basing that on? I live in Texas, its 100+ degree for 60+ days here in the summer and black interior gets hot very fast and takes a long time to cool off. I really want to buy this truck, its what I want. But the combo of no vent in rear and the hot air blow out the the backs of the seats is really creating me to pause... would love to hear real life feedback...

Any vehicle also blows hot air out all vents until the ac system has a chance to cool the duct work.

I live in Texas, its 100+ degree for 60+ days here in the summer and black interior gets hot very fast and takes a long time to cool off. I really want to buy this truck, its what I want. I also live in Texas. I also own a 2014 Denali. I've also owned other trucks in Texas without rear AC vents. There are MILLIONS of trucks in Texas without rear AC vents. The new trucks have remote start and can be cooled significantly/completely down before you even step into them. Tint your windows. Put up a visor. Crack your windows. Buy white exterior. People have survived for hundreds, thousands of years without rear AC vents. I think you'll be okay.

People in hotter climates should not buy a GM crew cab if you plan on putting kids in the back. It will be the next big safety recall in a few years. If you complain to your dealer, they will remove the duct work for the cooled seats per the TSB, effectively killing the option you paid for. Waiting for the redesigned seats...

You say I am incorrect but you don't know? Really...

I only said that I didn't know HOW the TSB was implemented other than they remove the duct from the rear exit. I don't know if they have to remove the leather to access it. So? What's your point?

You are COMPLETELY wrong in saying "It will be the next big safety recall in a few years" and "effectively killing the option you paid for." There will NEVER be a safety recall for lack of rear AC vents. That's idiotic. And removing the seat vent ducting does not "kill" the cooled seats performance. It just won't exhaust as efficiently.

My truck. I will do what I want. I will even fart in them and blow the gases to the back right through the ducting if I feel like it. They can roll the window down and get some air.....as long as I deactivate the child safety switch.

Well, even though there are hundreds of thousands of cars without rear AC vents, I'm not sure that there are too many brand-new $50,000 trucks without them... It seems like just this one. I probably will still buy, but I'm not sure I can be convinced that this is anything but a royal miss on their part.

I don't understand how GM can put rear vents in my beat old 2001 Silverado extended cab.. Not even a crew cab, and not put them in GMT900's or K2's.

They probably ran some quantitative tests and determined that they didn't really make a difference in cooling the cab and decided to save some money. It's not like an SUV where you get a second compressor. It's the same amount of air distributed slightly differently. And the vent under the seat is what, 2 feet away from the top of the console? The front vents easily blow air to the back as well. Personally, I'd rather cold air on my feet in the summer than pointed at my knees. Like I said, it's a nit.

I agree.. I have never had issues in any brand of vehicle that didn't have rear air vents that couldn't get to a good temp warm or cold... It's such a small space in any vehicle.

I like chrome. My Denali has painted bumpers. It is a forgone conclusion that the front one is going to look like it got hit with bird-shot in a year. Likely to put on a clear bra but for a bit more I think a chrome bumper could be had.

But then you have to do the back and that means new backup sensors because mine are white (like the truck and the truck's bumper!)
