I've had 2 2014 Silverados.

 

The first was from Fort Wayne, had a faulty multifunction switch from the factory, shook like a horse-drawn carriage at highway speeds, and had to go in a few times for Chevy's summer of recalls last year. Traded it in with 19,XXX for 4WD and a 5.3 after learning I'd be relocating to New England this summer (and a sweet lot of "I told you so"s when I took a $3000 loss because my wife insisted we should save money and get the 2WD 4.3 DC).

 

The second is a crew cab from Mexico (ironically with tires shipped from the Goodyear factory about 6 miles from the dealership I bought both trucks at). No problems on Chevrolet's end. Lots of problems with temporary police station at the mall when the wife dragged me Black Friday shopping. 13 days old and $2400 in hit and run damage later, Black Friday shopping is a dead tradition in our house. I've been shocked to incur no issues in the 21,XXX miles since, but I'm keeping a close eye on the replaced bedside.

So, if you wanted a crew cab, you would buy from a different maker?

Do you feel the same about the food you eat or clothes you wear? A lot of everyday stuff isnt made here in the US.

Yeah, I have owned gm vehicles for a while, but would switch for that reason.

I get making the compacts with poor profit margins in Mexico but there is no excuse to build the trucks there. Not to mention if this contract is approved, it sounds like Chrysler will move all Ram production that is in Mexico back to Michigan, leaving GM as the only truck maker there.

Somewhere in this thread there is a link to an article explaining why auto manufacturers run assembly plants where they do, it is an interesting read. It is all about the profit margins.

 

If the reason for the Mexico hate is due to not wanting to support a company that won't pay a worker a living wage, then pretty much any commercially available product you buy has some element in the production chain where a worker was taken advantage of.

 

Few major companies are not guilty of this.

We are talking trucks here, the half ton rams and half ton fords are both made in the US, the crew cab GM trucks not so much...

Junk, I will only support a company that will pay a worker a wage that they can live on.

Just like in the US, if you can get a job in a vehicle assembly plant , it is a lucrative one -- compared to the other jobs in the area.

      Because single shot injectors are ancient and multi hole injectors provide smoother running engines and sharper throttle response due to the fuel being atomized better..the best lead I have is a 24lb blue top injector almost everything matches up but the injector will put out about 26lb/hr which is just outside the gm threshold.figured id ask here to see if there was an absolute answer

      Why is my question?   Any change in injectors requires a tune. Unless you are going back with the OEM part number or a newer part number of that same injector.   Any size difference or type difference like the EV6 style injectors all have different injector data for them. And there is no EV6 injector that matches the factory 25 lb/hr size that your truck comes with. I've been messing with these trucks and tuning them for a long time and what you trying to do doesn't exactly make sense to me.

      My 6.6 gas lt8 had lifter noise with 28000 miles bought new 2026 and while driven to dealer it threw #1 rod bearing “HD my ass” good luck with yours i hope it don’t turn a rod bearing!

      Thought it was raining this morning when we woke. Nope. Dew point was over 80 F and humidity 98%. Zero visibility distance. Everything was 'sweating'. I've seen rain come out of clouds but never out of Pepper or the tree trunks.    Wicked storms just missed us sliding off to the east but by blocks. Heat index about 110 F with air temp in the 90's.    This is  our third wave this month of multiple days of this type of weather. And yet the grass is going dormant and the ground is cracking this side of the street and water up the the hood opposite. Just weird stuff going on.
