Adding Cooled seats function to Heated Seats SLT

So I used remote start today while in south Louisiana and radio was turned off. When I hoped in the truck the ac was on and I heard a noise from the rear cab... it was the cooling seat fans in the seats!!!! But I don't have cooled seats, just heated. As soon as i put the key in, the fans turned off? So how can I turn them on when the key is in? I didn't think the truck had the fans and electronic stuff already installed. I wonder if all I have to do is add the button on the dash??? Is it pre wired? Anyone do this already or can help with info??

Do you have option code KB6 or KA1? KB6 = heated and cooled KA1 = heated only. Seems odd you would have blowers ( KB6 ) but switches for KA1. Check the SPID label, it is in the upper glove box.

And I noticed a vent. Do you have 2 vents on the back of both seats? The heated and cooled swith tbarn is talking about looks like this...

that is very weird.... maybe with heated only seats can chime in a see if they have the vents in the back of their seats as well. I don't think they do as the vents are for the cooling seats feature.

Maybe you'll get lucky and find GM was short of seats that day so they just threw a set of heated/cooled in yours but didn't change the dash switches! That'd be sweet

Weird....KB6....but no cooling button...so maybe they ran out of buttons and not seats???

Can a Parts guy please look up the part#s for the 3 option heated/cooled dash buttons?

 

I would also like to see if any others with heated only have the vents and if they turn on with auto start with a/c on.

Seems to me that if you have KB6, and you do, you paid for heated and cooled seats. Appears likely that the wrong switches were installed. Do you still have the window sticker? Does it list heated and cooled seats? Sometimes options that are included in a package like LTZ or ALLSTAR and not listed clearly. Sounds like a trip for some warranty work. FYI p/n for switches are 22883142 and 22883143 .

Thanks for the part numbers. At $60 each I will ask the service dept at dealership. Window sticker doesn't list it. Do we have an in house GM rep that can get the ball rolling? Thanks.

Stopped by dealer and noticed that all the cooled seats are perforated just like mine and the non - cooled seats were not. May be another indication.

 

Some member feedback may help...heck some of us may have cooled seats and don't know it...

Thats why I was asking about the vents. Cooled seats have the blower and requires perforated seats with vents in the back. The heated only do not have blowers and vents or perforations.

 

I would engage service manager st my dealer. RPO list clearly states that you have the option installed, just the wrong switches. They should make it right. Your sales GM may need to be involved, but this is clearly a QC issue. Good luck!

this is pretty nuts. that would be sweet for you if you could just plug in a new switch and get a new radio trim and have cooled seats!

 

 

Did you order the truck or did you buy it off the lot?
