djayh20 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I have purchased 5 vehicles of the last couple of years, and I have never had to deal with issues like this. The sad thing is, the horror is still going on. Just trying to get some opionions of what I can do.... Timeline:4/3/2014 - Purchased new 2014 Crew Cab Silverado 4wd LT, traded in wife's Chev Tahoe. After being upside down 3k on tradein, ended up financing about 3500 below MSRP. Signed Loan Docs at 4.9%, and added gap and ext 100k mile warranty for an additional 1800. 4/14/2014 - 11 days later, payoff had not been sent to our Credit Union. Called and left message with the Finance guy we had signed papers with. 4/15/2014 - No phone call back. For the next few days, my wife and I left over 10 messages, of which, none were returned. We live about 45 minutes away, and have a 5 month old and a 6 year old, so just driving up there on a whim is not feasible. 4/18/2014 - My original salesman called me and stated that finance had asked him to call us. We needed to come back up andre-sign papers. I asked why? He stated that he was told that nothing had changed, but since there was a time lapse, we had to re-signfor the lender4/23/2014 - Since they had called right before Easter Weekend, we made it up the first of the next week. Zeke, fromfinance called me in the morning to see when we were coming up to sign. I stated that we were coming upthat evening, and I specifically asked if the terms were the same. He said that he didn't have the documentsin from of him, but that he would call me backAfter 6 hours, I still had not received a phone call back. I called and asked for Zeke, and he told me that everythingwas the same. Come on up. I explained that we had a 45 minute drive and wanted to ensure all payments and terms where the same. He said they wereWe made the45 minute drive to the dealership, and when we got up there and discovered that they had upped thepayment $35 and the interest to 6.2%. This ended up being a difference of almost 3,000, and If we would have know that it was going up, we could have looked for other options, but they would not tell us over the phone. They stated while we were there that we had to sign the papers, or turn overthe truck. We signed papers under diress. (In hindsight, we should have walked)4/24/2014 - I called back to the dealership, and asked to speak to a manager in Finance. I was very upset over the previous evening, and it just wasn't sitting right with me. I spoke to Colt, a Finance Manager, and explained what had happened. He stated that he would look into this, and see if he could get my interest backdown. He called me later that day and said that he would need more time to look into it. 4/25/2014 - I called back the next day, and got his voicemail. Left a message. Proceeded to leave 5-7 messagesfor him over the next few days. No return phone callsIn the meantime, I had received an email requesting a survey on my experience. At this point, I was verydisappointed with the dealership, and filled out a scathing survey regarding the Finance Department . I stated that I was pleased with my Salesman, but the pleasant experience ended there. I filled out the survey on aSaturday.4/29/2014 - I had expected some kind of contact from GM or the dealership, but nothing had happened. I then calledmy salesman, and explained what had happened. He had me call a New Car Sales Manager, and I spoke with Zach.He was very polite, listened to what had happened, and then asked what he could do. I stated that I wanted aspray in bed liner, and he said no problem, but stated that another survey would be coming, and if I could givethem a very good survey remarks for him doing this for me. I stated that I would do so, assuming he knew aboutthe other survey already. No new survey ever came in the mail or in my email.5/10/2014 - Was at dealership picking up truck after bed liner had been put in, and when I was leaving, a new car salesmanager, Garry Ferren, came out with my salesman to greet me. I assummed he was bringing our the money he owed me for putting gas in his loaner, but was I wrong. He asked if my name was Dustin, and I said yes. He then told me that I gave them a bad survey, and basically I was a piece of crap, and to never call or comeback to his dealership, and I needed to get the hell off his parking lot. I told him that if his employees had the common courtesy to call me back, this would have never happened. Now I do not feel comfortable going back to the dealership. One of the reasons we purchased there was becauseof the FREE TIRES FOR LIFE. Now, a caveat of this was that all repairs, oil changes, and maintenance had to bebe performed at this dealership. Now I feel that is void due to this. I still have not received my title to the new vehicle, nor our TT&L, and our trade in has not been paid off. It hasbeen right at 20 days since we signed papers the 2nd time. I had been informed that the title was mailed on May 6th... but now almost a week later, still nothing in the mail. And alas... when I call the dealership, I get sent directly to voice mail. I filled out a request for Chevrolet to contact me on Saturday, but have not heard from anybody yet Anybody have any advice?
RyanbabZ71 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Call gm customer service or PM them on here. That's not right that they threatened you like that Ryan
MikeNH Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Good luck. You signed a contract and like you said you should've walked. Sales departments pull high pressure stuff all the time and you can't give them an inch. You're probably stuck with the crap rates. You had your paperwork from the initial deal. As soon as he said come back and re-sign I'd be calling a lawyer to come with me. As for the rest, free tires and crap like that are a scam. They usually have a more intensive maintenance schedule they require you to follow to get the "free" tires. You'd be better off going elsewhere regardless of the fact that these guys seem like thugs. I hope GM can help you but in the mean time, share the name of the dealer so no one else gets shafted.
djayh20 Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 Thanks for the advice. Not 10 minutes after I posted this, I get an email from Chevrolet from my saturday submission. I will keep you informed of how it goes.
Trwtow Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 good luck besides the drama how do you like your new truck
djayh20 Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 We love our new truck. The backseat is finally spacious like the F150's, which is great for our kids. We haven't had any issues with it and have about 2300 miles on it.
SLESierra Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I would call the attorney general and ask for civil charges and for the deal to be negated for the reason you suggested how can you comfortably feel going back there and trusting them http://research.lawyers.com/oklahoma/oklahoma-statutes-of-limitations.html
2strokesmoke Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 This needs to be stopped! Contact BBB for advice, and or solicitor to void this deal, or have the original deal reinstated. This kind of crap is happening to often. You need to have your paperwork reviewed first, then contact corporate GM and lodge a complaint on ethics alone for illegal business practices, and let them know if this deal is not voided you will be bringing it to the media for judgement.
HDNitehawk Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Bait and switch, I would have walked and took my car back. I believe I know the dealer you are talking about. Every time I have stopped there I left because they liked to play sales games. My brother went in to trade his truck in and they wanted to play the trade difference game and he just got up and walked out. The tires for life you will end up paying for the tires in service visits. It is not a reason to use the dealership IMO.
djayh20 Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 The problem with bringing it to the media, is that the car lots are the one who throw the most money to them. Here locally we have two news choppers sponsored by Car Dealers, and every other ad is a car lot during the news. I had a buddy who had a problem with a Caddy he bought, and he threatened to go to the a new station, and they just laughed at him and said... Yeah Right...we sponsor thier chopper... Good luck with that
MikeNH Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Most markets have more than one station. If all else fails you can slam their Facebook. Or just torch the place.
HDNitehawk Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 If anything go away with a lesson, when you go in deal on your terms and walk away if they play games. Bring your own financing and negotiate price and not payments. What they did to you may be one of the tactics they use to get more money. Who knows maybe they have gotten a higher fee to write with the loan company they used and you get stuck with higher interest. 3.9% is what others were quoting in Feb when I bought my last one, 6.2 is extremely high. Look at the area around the dealer and who they sell to, if it is a financially stressed area this might be a common practice for them.
Colossus Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I went with an auto broker on my last purchase and avoided the dealer nightmare. I'll never go to a dealer again to buy a vehicle. I am very sorry you had to go through all of this. Not right for you, your wife, and not right for the salesman who tried to give you what you wanted but because of prideful management couldn't.
KMGZ400 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 The name and location of the dealer should be posted, this should be exposed.
rt66er Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Seeing you're from Oklahoma, and with the "tactics" employed, I'm guessing the dealer initials are D.S....
