2012 rear diff question

I have a 2012 3500 srw with the locking rear, a guy at work told me today there is either a recall or tsb for 11's and my 12 also, something about a pin coming free and destroying the gear cluster... Is there any truth to this? He said his friends 2011 just had it done??? Just want to find out before if this true and it decides to mess up at the worst time.

tsbs are for technician assistance ,not for the public to say "fix this"

campaigns are for safety concerns ,,,if there was one ,you'd know about it when it drops

10.5" axle only if I recall. 3500SRW should have the 11.5" axle. The Customer Satisfaction Program for it has to do with a clip and bolt that hold the right hand adjuster in place coming loose. Again, 10.5" rear axle only.

Gm has a 10.5 and 14 bolt right? Didn't the 6.2 1500 come with the 14? Just curious

The 9.5, 10.5, amd 11.5 all use 14 bolt covers, the 10.5 and 11.5 have a 14 bolt ring gear while the 9.5 has a 12 bolt ring gear. And the 6.2 came with a 9.5

Which vehicles came with the 9.5, 10.5, and 11.5?

When I say Corp-14 bolt, I'm talking about the tried and true full-float axle they have used since the 70s. I thought I remembered it being built by Eaton?

Better tell GMC that the 6.2L comes with a 9.5 because my 6.2 Sierra Denali does not have one and none that I looked at did. The 9.5" only comes with the Max trailering package in the 1500's which just so happens to include the 6.2L ergo the assumption all 6.2L have a 9.5" rear axle. All 1500's with MAX Trailering pkg come with a 9.5", not all 6.2L engines.

Not sure about the gmt-900, but with the 800 series, if you have a 2 or 4wd with the LQ9 6.0 you have the 9.5. If it was all wheel drive it has the 8.6

Correct on the bolt count on the covers. 10.5" ring gear has 12 bolts however, that hold the ring to the carrier, not 14. The "14 bolt", "12 bolt", etc. has to do with the cover bolts and the number of them.

Almost any 8 lug full float axle single rear wheel truck that is gas from 1973 and up is most likely a 10.5" 14 bolt. There are dually versions as well if I recall. 9.5" can be found in "heavy half" trucks (1500 vortec max, 2500 6 lug back in the 88-98 trucks, some 1500 88-98 trucks with F44 heavy chassis, etc.) and it can be found in 8 lug semi-float form in Express/Savana vans, and 1500hd and 2500 light duty trucks from 99-07. The all new 9.5" axle is a 12 bolt rather than a 14 bolt. 11.5" is 2001 and up Duramax trucks, and 8.1 big block trucks.

Eaton does the G80 that I know of, American Axle used to be the Final Drive and Forge Business Unit, GM Saginaw Division. AAM makes the corporate 14 bolt for GM to this day, as well as the 11.5" and others.

Is your Denali AWD? That might explain that. Check this one. Z71, non max trailer, 6.2. Ran the VIN at work, and its got the 9.5" axle. http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=newcc&csDlId=&csDgId=&listingId=124078811&listingRecNum=8&criteria=feedSegId%3D28705%26rpp%3D50%26isDealerGrouping%3Dfalse%26sf2Nm%3Dlocation%26requestorTrackingInfo%3DRTB_SEARCH%26yrId%3D47272%26yrId%3D39723%26yrId%3D34923%26sf1Nm%3Dprice%26sf2Dir%3DASC%26stkTypId%3D28880%26PMmt%3D1-1-0%26rn%3D0%26zc%3D14580%26rd%3D100000%26crSrtFlds%3DstkTypId-feedSegId-mkId-mdId%26bsId%3D20209%26mdId%3D22061%26stkTyp%3DN%26mkId%3D20053%26sf1Dir%3DDESC&aff=national&listType=1

The Denali linked below is AWD. per the VIN, 8.625" rear end.

But, this 2WD Denali...9.5" axle.http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=newcc&csDlId=&csDgId=&listingId=111877766&listingRecNum=0&criteria=feedSegId%3D28705%26rpp%3D50%26isDealerGrouping%3Dfalse%26sf2Nm%3Dlocation%26requestorTrackingInfo%3DRTB_SEARCH%26yrId%3D47272%26yrId%3D39723%26sf1Nm%3Dprice%26sf2Dir%3DASC%26stkTypId%3D28880%26PMmt%3D1-1-0%26rn%3D0%26zc%3D14580%26rd%3D100000%26crSrtFlds%3DstkTypId-feedSegId-mkId-mdId%26mdId%3D22044%26stkTyp%3DN%26mkId%3D20061%26drvTrnId%3D27103%26sf1Dir%3DDESC&aff=national&listType=1
