Adding Front Park Assist

Chris White had an unlock mod that allowed an aux camera, or at least that was my recollection. I may be interested in something like that.

That is true, but it was like 300 to 400 dollars to get that. I would wish it does more like dashcam recording etc at that price

If you look on ebay, there are parking assist kits that you can add on that are aftermarket. They have sensors that look similar to OEM ones, and there is a smaller little LED indicator that you can mount on top of your rear view mirror ( or whereever you want).

Here is a link to one of the types of units I have seen.

This seller has them for $80, it was a quick search. Not sure if it would fit with OEM bumper or not, otherwise sharpen up a drill bit and open up some holes in the bumper you have.

Hope that helps.

So does anyone know where the harness is kept on these trucks and if they have open slots to additional sensors?

Because I have limited space putting my camaro and my truck in a row in my driveway. So my wife can get her car out of the garage. If im not close to touching the camaro then my ass end is in the street. thats main reason #1... No.2 is I dont wanna look like an ahole parking 3ft further back than i should in a parking space especially when my truck is long as it is.

I have a bumper with the sensors laying here in our custom shop. Thats why im asking! :-)

Sounds like you just need to learn the size of the truck from driving it. With a bit of experience behind the wheel you should know exactly where your vehicle limits are.

I cannot do that in my Silverado because I do not drive it nearly enough but in my daily driver car I can park within an inch of something, no problem. When I get enough miles in my truck, I will be able to do the same.

A bit of an old thread, but hoping for some help. I just purchased the following kit

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YE9FZJE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

I also picked up a bumper with the factory sensor holes drilled already but no mounting bezels for the sensors. The sensors are a bit too small for the factory holes. Before I drop $50 or so on factory bezels, has anyone that's added aftermarket sensors found that they fit the factor mounting hardware? If not, any ideas?

Just to close this out - I am still searching for 1" parking assist sensors but in the mean time, Lowes has nylon plastic plugs that are 1" OD that cover the factory sensor holes perfectly, and have a low profile as well as easy to paint. I'm using these temporarily - for about $5 total.

I have the parking assist in the front and never use it. I'm one of those people that back into everywhere I park. And then I just let the camera guide me. It drives my woman nuts but I find it easier to pull out of a spot then back out of one.

reviving an old thread... couldn't find answer in my search...

just bought a 2014 Silverado LT that didnt come with factory front park assist... but who i bought the truck from added the factory sensors to the front bumper...

they do not work and said "its a wrong harness"

so... would the "correct harness" add this feature (with a computer flash from GM dealer) or is this an impossible thing to do?

Update... just crawled around under there and the factory GM harness is there. And from there, plugs lead to the sensors.... however, the plugs don't match the sensors in the bumper... so I'm guessing wrong from sensors?

Anyone have a part number for the front sensors?
