Loss of power

Yeah. If it's something simple like cleaning a sensor then I'm all about it. I'm debating on putting the stock system back on and seeing if it gets better

Is the filter a dry or oiled one? If it's a dry filter not an oiled one more then likely a dirty MAF sensor won't be your problem.

It's oiled. I wasn't sure of the dry filter at time of purchase so I got the oiled one.

I would put the stock system back on, and see if it gets better. Doesn't hurt to try since it won't cost you a dime. To clean the sensor just spray it with some electrical sensor cleaner.

Where do I get electrical sensor cleaner? Thanks for the advise

I bought mine at Autozone. It was made by CDC I believe (red & white can). No problem on the advice. Not sure it'll fix your problem, but I've had to clean a few MAF sensors before. It's pretty easy.

I'm going to put the stock system back on and inspect the sensor I'll let you know if it fixed the problem

Do you get any engine light when this issue happens? or is it just a loss of power?

Your symptoms sound more like transmission slipping to me. The sudden surge of RPMs when it finally gets into gear is what makes me think that.

yeah sorry I have not gotten on here in a while. you just spray the maf with the cleaner just don't touch the maf with your fingers or anything besides that spray really. it is very sensitive and if you touch it you will ruin it.

I don't have any codes or nothing popping up which is what confuses me. The truck does serge a lot it's never just a nice crisp shift thru the gears like it use to be. I'm wondering if the dealer can re-flash the computer or something and see if that helps. The shift points seem to have gotten higher to. Under normal driving it would shift before 2000 rpm's now no matter what it holds gear till around 2-2100. Flairs between 3rd and 4th under half throttle it's all a mess. But yet no codes via dealer. I can't even spin the tires anymore if I try. Out of options now as the dealers help was my only one. Guess I'll have to live with it. I honesty hate driving my 50k truck now.

There wasn't any problems back then. I installed that like 2 months after I got the truck I just wanted to see what it would do performance wise. Everything was fine until I took the truck to my dealer for the 2nd recall and they claimed my vin was effected but when I took it in all they did was a inspection and nothing else (or so they say). It wasn't until I got to the on ramp and gave it some gas after I picked it up from the dealer Did I experience the first hesitation. It was around 30 mph when I gave it some throttle and it did nothing. About another inch of throttle the r's jumped up and it finally decided to accelerate. Since then it's been a on and off thing. During stop and go rush hour traffic it's the worse. If I let off right before it shifts it jerks and just doesn't seem to be acting right. I'm sorry if I'm being confusing it's hard to describe.. Another thing is the damn v4 mode.. It's always trying to go into it and everytime it does it take about 1/2" of throttle to get it to shut off. The truck literally tries to drive in v4 mode then pops out back into 8. The most annoying driving experience I swear lol. For a new truck I should have to be spending my afternoons off at the dealer.. I'm bout ready to sell it and that would kill me. I would lose my ass but it's very tempting.

Buy a can of MAF sensor cleaner at your local auto parts store. I suggest using ONLY Cleaner for MAFs because it leaves no residue. Clean your sensor, it's easy and simply unscrews from intake tube. If that doesn't help, put stock system back on and take to different dealer. They will only blame the CAI if you don't.

Please keep us posted on the issue

Edit: it's too bad you are so far away... I would make you fall in Love with that truck all over again.

My truck has the same hesitation that you're talking about. It'll come and go for me. Some days the truck drives perfect and the next day it lacks power, hesitates, and has the goofiest shifting. When it's driving poorly it also affects the downhill assist, and causes it to come on WAY too early so it's like I can't use my brakes at all going down a hill without downshifting to 3k-4k rpm. Dealer just said if there's no codes then there's nothing wrong with it.

I had the truck tuned and it seemed to stop the problem at first, but it has returned. Which leads me to believe it's a mechanical not software problem.

I am experiencing exactly as you have described, took it to the dealer for a second time and this time I was basically told the same thing, no code nothing wrong. I need to try another dealer just haven't had the time to bring it in.

The truck has not been tuned.

Did you return it to stock from your custom tune done? Maybe the tuner can reflash your tune and solve the problem since the dealer likely wiped out the custom tune while troubleshooting.
