EDIT... OK I posted at the same time you did... I didn't see the part about aftermarket.

Sorry about that

Mine are not OEM, but they work great and are extremely solid. Company tested to 600 lb. each side.

AMP Research Power Boards. The nice thing is, they just look like a piece of body trim when closed. Also, 5 year warranty.

the amp running boards are just as good quality as OEM if not better. if they have a 5 year warranty im pretty sure they will last. my old boss had some on his 11 sierra and bought a k2 after he saw mine and swapped them out and put them on his 2014 and they are still working with no issues at all.

I may be wrong but im pretty sure GM never offered Automatic opening and closing Nerf bars as a factory option. Im quite sure the ones on your wifes Tahoe were Aftemarket and the dealer you bought the car from probably added it on as a dealer option. So in essence you already had aftermarket ones and the only brand that sells any that are worth anything is Amp Research.. Ive done the research myself and checked all the truck/jeep/Suv offroad forums for reviews and such and found Amp is the best. Hope this helps

I was thinking about getting the stainless kit. At the same place that installed my AMP plug n play steps for me, there was a Ford that had the stainless accent on them. It went well with the silver paint and all of the other chrome. But I like the all black...like Luster said, it looks more like a OEM trim kit when closed. Of course, my truck is Deep Ruby Metallic.

GM did offer power retractable running boards on the GMT-900 Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade/Suburban and Avalanche, they were never offered on the Silverado/Sierra though. GM also offers factory power retractable running boards on the K2 full size SUVs.

It's unlikely GM ever made a retractable RB. Those on your wife's truck were likely made by AMP under contract for GM. You may also find that the OEM board requires getting into each door panel to splice wires as the baseline and older AMP product required. It has only been in the past couple months that the AMP plug and play system that plugs into the OBD 2 socket has been offered. This may be a case where the "aftermarket" product is better than the OEM. But it's your call if you think the OEM purchased product buys you something. I'm guessing you'll also pay a very high premium to get it thru GM...maybe 50%?

AMP steps also come with a 5 year/60,000 mile warranty. OEM installed by you...goose egg.

Good info guys. Thanks.

I may go with the AMPs.

Have to see the OEM in person first then compare cost and what is needed for install...If they will even fit.

I installed alot of oem items on my 07 I purchased new and all still working just fine (led mirrors, chrome handles and hooks, Cruise control and leather steering wheel, slt dash and guages, slt rear view mirror, dic, seats and console, etc...)

The ones on her Tahoe were really nice.

Try the AMP website or call them to find a dealer in your area. My dealer had a customer truck in his shop to look at. I found the OBD2 plug n play option on the website.
