I just wish Ford would be awesome and put twin turbos on the 5.0. And give it an honest name like earth f***er.

What FORD did with the F150 reminds me a little of my childhood.

When I was about 8 years old I had an old toy bulldozer like that:

Once the dozer was broken I removed the 4.5V electric motor and transmission and fixed it into this truck:

Of course I had to find out how much load the truck could carry. So I wired the 4.5V motor to my old modell train transformator. The max output was 16V:

The truck actually moved...and the little motor eventually went up in smoke.

But it was fun though...loool

Fixed; because I checked the Price on the Ford Parts Website. the Turbos are $730 a Pop!

And that is just the part cost. Add in labor and it will jump a tad more.

Good luck to those when at service department and told that the turbo is kaput.

There will be no turbo engines in my garage. Keep it simple.

I always said that too, but somehow I made the mistake of having two now. Having problems with the Wife's turbo Cruze now makes me regret buying mine.

Ford must be real proud of their turbos! I can get a Borg Warner 171702 turbo brand new for my Detroit Series 60 12.7L cheaper than that!

Over a million Detroit Series 60 engines built, and probably the most popular engine of it's time, in terms of numbers, in class 8 semi trucks. Not currently offered in new vehicles, but Detroit is factory rebuilding these engines like gang busters. Extensive rebuild plant expansion in the last two years just for this engine. It is the engine of choice for instillation in factory built glider kit trucks... trucks that are complete but without an engine or trans. A dealer or builder then installs the customer engine later for final delivery to the customer. Nice way to get a new complete truck with all factory warranties and avoid all the new emissions stuff on new engines. Legal and costs much less! This is how I did my current 2013 semi truck. Before we dropped the engine in, I bought and installed a better Borg Warner 171702 turbo with a blanket on it. Many others doing the same. The 171702 turbo is a popular model and is used in several applications. It is a T6 housing size. Similar to the SX400 line.

Well, I'm not sure but is it fixed vane or a VGT? I know fixed vanes from borg Warner are much cheaper than any VGT from Garrett...my s475 (billet wheeled 75mm cold side/83 hot side .90ar with race cover/ceramic coating) is $500 cheaper than the stock Garrett in the valley. Fixed vanes are cheap.

our school actually has TWO Series 60 Engines; one is mounted on a static Run Stand, and the other is installed in a 1995 Peterbilt 379.
