So I have had my truck for barely two weeks now and took it to the carwash today only to find my back seat and headliner soaked. It looks like its coming from where the top of the rear window meets the roof. The truck is a 2014 Silverado LT with a solid rear window.

Any one else had this issue? Is it a common problem with these trucks?

Kind of crummy to have an issue this big after only owning the vehicle this long.

Haven't seen that one, but I have seen comments about the "third brake light" (rear cab mounted brake/bed light) leaking.

More likely what chuck said. Check the seal around the TBL.

Yep it was the third break light. Bbout a half inch gap between the light and the cab with no seal in between. The assembly is filled with water. Not something I really want to fill with silicone either as it looks like some would get inside the housing.

So the question is now do I need the headliner replaced? Im worried about mold in the future. Or can I dry it out with the windows down, maybe a blow dryer?

+1 Dealer issue. Let them fix it all (TBL and headliner). And if there are any further issues, it's their problem under warranty.

Taking it to the dealer in the morning. I already have a mildew like smell as it has been close to 100 here today. Question is would you guys demand to have the headliner replaced? Hate to have them replace something like that being so new but dont want to get stuck with mold and/or rust down the line. Was thinking of having them replace the light and document the headliner in case there are issues later on.

What would you do?

Sucks I spent half my day detailing and now I got to take her in.

I had the same problem on a 2007. I can not stress enough how bad and how fast MOLD can occur. The dealer had to replace nearly every thing in the interior. I have Asthma ,so I was very sensitive to the mold. If water touched it and was not cleaned up promptly. Make em pull it out. Not trying to scare you, but mold is no joke. Good luck.

UPDATE: Truck was dropped off when they opened this morning. Just received a call saying they ordered a new headliner but it will not be in for a few days. They also said the truck will need to be sent to the body shop to get the third brake light to seal correctly. I don't like the sound of that but it is what it is I guess.

Sounds like they are going to do some bondo work perhaps?

Anything I should specifically look for when I pick it up?

Glad they are replacing the headliner. At my dealer, this would be handled by their on premise body shop, I believe. I would not think they aould use "bondo" but a good sealant. This sounds reasonable to me.

I'm sure you will be sensitive to watching for future leaks. Good luck. Sounds like they are taking care of you.

I get my 2014 detailed every weekend and starting notice a mildew smell the next day. Also my seats have this residue on them like something dried up being that the truck barely get drove, well my daughter finally sat in the back on a rainy day and got wet from the back window…. I wonder will my b2b warranty will cover this issue?

Welcome to the site.

Going to guess no, really don't remember the K2's having the problem with the rear window like the T1's, we got the exploding version🤔😬

I would put a dollar bet on it being your 3rd brake light housing leaking. Is your headliner stained right above the rear window?
