Question about software update with custom tune

I have had my 2014 Sierra tuned now for several months to turn off the AFM, recalibrate the speedo for the larger tires and to clean up some of the sloppy shifting. My question is this: I will be taking the truck in to the dealer Wednesday morning for an oil change, a door rattle and for them to take a look at a constant creaking noise that seems to be coming from the rear leaf springs when going over uneven terrain or turning up a hill. There is a recall that has been issued for my truck that involves a reflash of the Transfer Case Control Module. Will this reflash override my custom tune or will this reflash only affect the Transfer Case programming? If it will override my tune can I just put tape over the OBD port and request that the dealer not perform the recall at this time? My tuner is 2 hours away and I can't get up there for some time.

Only affects transfer case control module.

You don't have to get the update done. It's your truck. I would though.

As said only flashes the transfer case module. I will tell you though, you go in with tape over the ALDL port and the dealer is going to know something is up.

Last time I went to the dealer they wanted to do some kind of odometer update, I told them no its working. They can mess stuff up, their not all knowing. Unless its a safety issue its your truck tell them no, unless they want to make the payments. I would all ways go to the dealer un tuned, you never know what their going to do.

I agree. And it doesnt take very long to flash the stock tune (if you are using an autocal). Can be done in less than 10 minutes.

And to elaborate...make sure you update your stock tune files once you get back from the dealership so you retain the most recent updates. Might not be a bad idea to have your tuner reapply his tune on your updated stock files.

I would never tell them no to any update, just raises to many red flags and puts liability on you if anything happens. Flash to stock, have dealer update files, then re-flash your tune.

Ya they can mess it up with the reflash they have to do, fried the computer on mine and had to wait a week to get a new ecm
