Libertas Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Have you taken it in for service? Maybe the tech that worked on your vehicle had something on his hands that soaked into the rubber. It looks like it is eating the rubber away.
daveor Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 It has been in for service, but no idea if it was done there,, I will just get the other one out and use it, if I can't find a cheap one on e bay and swap out the cards.
SpecRacerDriver Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 It looks like you may be using your finger nail instead of the pad or your finger to press the buttons. This will wear out the rubber much faster. But that thing looks 20 yrs old.

fondupot Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Damn thats messed up. My key still looks brand new, it's about 1 year old. Like others have said either it was a bad batch of rubber or something got on it to cause the rubber to break down.
diannabill Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Actually I think we're all being had! I don't believe this could happen during normal use. 1
Rewillia Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 (edited) sorry if you felt offended but....it certainly looks as if someone abused it and if not you then who? if someone handed my truck key fob back and it looked like that I think I'd notice it immediatly which led me to my original response. bottom line, go buy you a new one as the condition of yours is without a doubt an exception to what would be considered normal "wear". BaltimoreCaesar Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Anybody found a manufacturer of silicone or plastic key fob covers yet?
diannabill Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Anybody found a manufacturer of silicone or plastic key fob covers yet? Sort of like looking for a container to store an acid that eats through everything.
thefishhawk Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Anybody found a manufacturer of silicone or plastic key fob covers yet? I searched and searched and couldn't find one for these fobs yet. Got sick of the fob smacking on the steering column so just using the fuzzy side of velcro for now. 1
thefishhawk Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Link? Seriously, I only see ones for the old style.
