Sale price in the states isn't 12 grand more anyways am I right? More like 7-8?

I wonder tho, ALL IN what would a loaded optioned out 6.2 crew cab be? With max tow package

Yeah your right so I don't know why the original poster said its a $12,000 upgrade for the Diesel when its really a $8400 upgrade here in the states. I know when I had my 04 lly it was a $5200 upgrade or somewhere around there for the Diesel.

So maybe you could get the 6.2 loaded right up, but if you sacrifice a little bit of the stupid kind of stuff you don't really need on the duramax probably close the same price no?

I tracked down one 2014 loaded SLT 6.2L that is on sale now for $46,500.00 with sunroof, power everything, max trailering package, etc. (MSRP is $52,895.00). Dealers aren't giving as much of a discount on the 2014 6.2L equipped models since there are so few of them around.

Another dealer has a 2015 2500HD SLT he said he would sell to me for $57,500.00 out the door (MSRP is $61,175.00). Other than the HD specific engine/transmission, etc., it was fairly comparably equipped with all but the sunroof and power sliding rear window. So that's $11,000 difference and the sunroof is @ $1,000 option and the window is a $250.00 option - so a $12,000+ total difference. (I don't want a 2015 1500 with the 6.2L since that comes with the "new" eight speed and God only knows when they might actually ship and would have to hope there aren't any bugs with the new tranny.

I could buy a bare bones SLT Duramax for closer to maybe $52-$53,000? But if I'm going to spend that kind of money (or more) I really don't have any desire to gp bare bones.

Chevyboy is right about the trade in. The key is that you're comparing a 1/2 ton trade in to a Duramax trade in. If history is any indicator, take a look at GMT 800's. You'll see that the diesel pickups bring nearly DOUBLE what a half ton with similar options does. Most of the nice, clean diesels I looked at from 2006 were around $30k. That price hasn't come down in the 3 years since I was looking for a pickup either.

That said it sounds like you can get a good deal on the 1/2 ton. I rarely tow. My 2006 is rated at 9000 pounds and I've only passed that once. In fact the transfer case of the half ton is better for how I use the 4x4. But I would still love to have a 2500. If you plan on keeping them a while they're a great value.

I bought my 2015 Denali 2500 6.6 loaded out for $57K before taxes down from $66K. The 2015 1500 Denali 6.2 loaded out was $62K with rebates, I got them down to $55K. Its really not that big of a price difference.

I know it's not, that's why I said that [emoji48]

I got my 2014 duramax about 11k of sticker last year.. I went from multiple half tons to a duramax and would never go back... I will gladly take a little stiffer ride for the D/A.... Love it

If your going to keep it a while and tow often go 2500 diesel, if your going to tow a lot go 3500 dually. Ive done a lot of towing 5th wheel most. I did the V 10 gas deal once, figured id get 40,000 free gas miles in what I save verses buying the diesel, going good till the engine blew at 35k. It just spent to much time singing the high RPM blues verses what the diesel spins.

Thinking about doing the same thing, trading up to a 2500 diesel, just not sure if it is a wise choice. Don't tow all that often, but do tow heavy a few times a year. I do put a lot of miles on this time of year, between hunting and football games. The big thing for me is mileage, I'm sick and tired of getting 14-15 mpg driving 75 with my 6.2, sure would be nice to get 18+.

Is daily driving a diesel in town as big of an issue as some people make it out to be? I know in the winter there is a much greater warm up time, but is that it?

On another note, I went to the GMC site to "Build" a 2500HD to my specifications. The specific vehicle I chose came to a total of $60,980.00 including factory discounts.

I e-mailed a copy of the Build order to a dealer I was talking to and he said he would try to find a vehicle that matched the "Build" order. So he sends me an e-mail that he's found the "exact match" and e-mails me the specifics of that vehicle. It turns out this exact match he's found doesn't have the sunroof or power sliding rear window that my "build" order had. On top of that, this vehicle has an MSRP of $61,325.00.

So I send him an e-mail back noting the exact match isn't and oh by the way, why is the vehicle that DOESN"T have the equipment I want listed at a higher MSRP than the vehicle I "built". (The vehicle had everything else I wanted except the sunroof and power sliding rear window - so shouldn't it have had a lower MSRP?)

He just sent me an e-mail that the GMC "Build & Price" option doesn't include dealer advertising! - which he says is an additional $1,300.00.

Maybe I'm naieve, but as far as I'm concerned, that is a load of BS. Obviously I will no longer be working with this dealer.

That dealer is crazy. I started my bargaining with the banks, played the banks against each other for the lowest interest rates. Walked in the dealerships feeling good because I had a check in hand and wasn't taking no sh*#! These dealerships will tell you that getting a diesel with a sunroof is rare or certain combos with a diesel are hard to come-by. It's all a load of crap to make you want to rush to spend money now. I told my dealer that I want wholesale pricing, all my military discounts, USAA discounts, Costco discounts, and that I had another dealer about an hour out that had three on the lot. Two of them being the same color of my truck. I've walked away from two trucks that I ordered and waited three months to only have the dealership try to raise prices because they thought I was emotionally invested. I don't get invested until my truck is sitting in my driveway. I did not get wholesale pricing, but I did get below supplier pricing in August 2014. I flashed my check from the bank to let them know I was serious and walked out. They called me back and I told them I wanted to deal over the phone and wanted papers drawn before I walked onto to the dealership. $66K MSRP down to $57K. I was in and out of the dealership in less than 20 minutes. My truck is loaded out with the exception of the gooseneck wiring.

I remote start my truck from in the house while I'm getting my socks and shoes on. If I'm wearing flip flops (which I usually do during the summer/spring) I just make sure the truck has dropped down out of elevated idle before I take off. I just take it easy for the first 5 minutes or so until it gets up to operating temp. I let the truck idle for a minute or so before I shut it down to go in somewhere so the turbo can cool off. I've been told by the dealer I don't even need to wait that long, but I do just to be safe.

I drive aggressively in both my trucks, I'll regularly do 80+ on the highway (don't tell anyone) and the fuel mileage isn't that much better in the Duramax than my 6.2. I don't tow heavy all that often, usually just an 18' 10,000 # GVWR open trailer I use to haul landscaping equipment. My 1500 could tow it, but the HD does it so much better and I feel a lot more confident in it. I also tow a CTL or Mini-excavator every once in a while, but I have other trucks I could use for that. I really have my Duramax just because I want it, not because "i need it". I like the way it sounds, well except for the squeaky brakes. It rides noticeably rougher than my 1500 and of course the cab is a lot noisier, but that's comparing a GMT-900 to a K2XX, so it's not really fair. My Duramax and my High Country were about the same price, but my Duramax has a lot fewer options.
