First truck, question about towing jeep

So I have a jeep cherokee I like to drive around on gravel bars when I go to my family's property, curious about getting a tow bar for my new truck that attaches to the jeep, like the ones RV's use? Curious how the silverado would handle that. I have the 5.3l z71 4x4 double cab

You'd need to have a supplemental brake system on the Jeep as it'd be far too heavy to tow un-braked. You'd be better off getting a trailer IMO.

I pull a 4400 lbs boat with no brakes on the trailer just fine.

That was foolish, unsafe and illegal.

RV dealers install supplemental brakes in towed vehicles all of the time. I towed a 4x4 Yukon behind my RV and it worked just fine (xfer case disengaged, of course) with a supplemental brake in the Yukon.

You can get a portable supplemental braking system (that sits on the driver's floor and clamps on the brake pedal). With that, and the tow bar and fixing up your Jeep to receive the tow bar and lights, you'd still probably be cheaper than buying a trailer (unless you get a killer deal).

How often do you go to the property? You can rent trailers from U-Haul which would probably be cheaper unless you're using it every weekend.

So you want to tow the truck with the Jeep or vice verse? The way it is written, this is how it sounds

The tow bar attaches to both vehicles, so I guess you could say it either way, but I'm pretty sure he wants to tow the Jeep with the truck.

Thats what I was hoping. I was gonna say that jeep would probably be winded dragging the truck....

Every state I'm aware of requires braked trailers above 2000-2500 lbs. Every boat trailer that carries a heavier boat I've seen has surge brakes.
