Saw a 2015 Denali with polished instead of chrome rims at dealership

I took a ride to a local dealership to see a stone blue metallic Denali. I noticed the rims looked cloudy, so I looked up the window sticker and it has a $400 credit for polished rims instead of the chrome rims. 2 of 3 Denalis I looked at had the polished rims. Does anybody know why they had polished rims? Is it a supplier issue?

The stone blue metallic looks awesome. It seems very similar to arrival blue.

I think they are discontinuing the chrome wheels

I had an '08 and now an '11 and had to have rims replaced on both of them in their second and third years. I keep my wheels cleaner than most and the chrome coating would still buble up and crack off. My next ride will be a '17 or so Denali, and I hope there is an OEM polished aluminum option then.

I just ordered a 2015 Sierra SLT last week. During the ordering process, the 20" Chrome option that was available on the 2014's are no longer available as of September 7th, 2014. I had to go with the RD5 option, which is the 20" Polish Aluminium Wheel. It is the same design as the wheel it replaces, just polished instead of chrome. The dealer told me that GM was having trouble with the Chrome wheels pitting after a short amount of time. I believe that there is still a Chrome wheel option available, but it's a slightly different design and available on the Denali only. Here is a link to the 2015 GMC Sierra Brochure for more info :http://www.gmc.com/content/dam/GMC/global/master/nscwebsite/en/home/Owners/Manuals/01_Images/2015-sierra-brochure.pdf

Chrome is crap anyways. I like polished aluminum better.

Thanks for the brochure. It shows 3 rims for the Denali now, chrome and polished of the current design and a machined aluminum. I have factory chrome rims on my Avalanche which I can see bubbling by the valve stems and the back of the rim. Living in NJ, I drive through a lot of salt.

The polished rims look good on the Denali, not as shiny as the chrome ones, but still good. I am interested to see the machined aluminum ones.
