Which bed liner to choose

I have always wanted to try a bed rug. I figured it was outdoor carpet would would go to crap in no time.

 

I keep the carpet in my house and spray in bed liners in my truck .

Absolutely love them and have had them in my last 3 trucks .

Still like the idea of a soft bed rug if they actually held up.

Mine has held up really well so far. Granted it's only a year old but I've used it to haul half a bed full (from top to bottom full, not from front to back) of Lava rocks, fire wood, and some dirt. Shovled out the rocks and dirt and no damage to the rug.

Pressure wash it or vaccuum. Not difficult at all. I just vaccuum it when I vacuum the interior at my local "do it yourself" car wash place. I only go there to vaccuum the truck out and then I bring it home to hand wash the exterior. But the bedrug cleans out nicely and easily.

I haven't seen anyone comment on dual liners really. Anyone own one of their liners? Comments? I've been looking at those and line-x and am undecided.

I looked into them. Probably would be ok. I ended up using a regular GM drop in liner and throwing a rubber GM mat on top of it.

Spray on for sure. I had one on my 2007 and regret not getting it on my 2014. I tried to be slick and get the dealer to throw in a free bed liner which was drop in and I could upgrade to a spray on later after saving some money. I didn't realize the drop in would be screwed into my bed. It also leaves too many edges exposed that my spray on covered in the past. I should've just bought the spray on and factored it into the payments and been done with it. So hopefully this year I will save some money and get a spray on installed before these screw holes start rusting or something. I'm going with either Line X or Premium 1 which competes with line x here and is pretty much the same product. I'll probably end up going with Premium 1 because they showed me great customer service in the past and are a few bucks cheaper.

I've had both LineX and BedRug.

Definitly go with a bedrug. All my friends have spray in liners and they are not that great. I have a bedrug in mine and love it. It keeps things from sliding around and it won't beat up anything you put in there. Also install is not permanent. You can take it back our if you ever decide. It won't hold mosture between it and the bed to no rust or molding issues. I've had mine for almost as long as I've had my truck and if I were to go back to when I was choosing a bedrug, I'd definitly go this route again. It makes the truck seem 100x's nicer. A lot of my friends see the bedrug and say "Damn, this truck is so classy it even has carpet in the bed!" Also having a bedrug can increase resale value as it actually protects your bed. Spray ins hurt the resale because it is irreversible. And also as I pretty much already said, a bedrug (and it's sister part, the bedtred) are the ONLY bed liners that actually protect the bed. Spray ins require you to sand the bed and remove all paint. Therefore if it ever gets chipped up, you now are susceptible to rust. Also, not saying you do or do not use your truck for a lot of heavy loads but, let's say you need to carry a large amount of bricks, if you start dropping them in there on a spray in, you are likely do start denting the bed with at least a half dozen of those dropped bricks. The bedrug has 3/4" foam under the surface to protect the bed from dents. And a drop in liner would just take the weight and if you have any dirt, or any chips from the bricks, under the drop in liner, then shifts in the liner will scratch and remove paint and once again, you now are open to rust

 

 

I want to end this by saying I am in NO way affiliated with Bedrug or any other liner company. I just did a lot of research on this subject when I went to get my bed liner.

Holy crap! I just read a bit on the BedRug website and watched a promo video for their BedTred product and now I'm wondering if you're actually a marketing plant or just a QVC junkie.

 

The spray in liner they're comparing to looks to be the kind of quality you get in a do it yourself can at Wal-Mart rather than something of Line-X quality. I LOVED their "let's see what happens to this cargo when we take a drive" comparison. They're obviously comparing to a drop in liner rather than a spray in and so sliding will certainly be more severe. They also WAY over sold it! Tool boxes are flopping in their sides in the video and you can see from the asphalt and scenery in the background that they're turning sharply at speed to make it happen. The background in the bedrug video is moving by in a straight line at constant speeds.

Having said that, I'd still consider a BedRug or BedTred and may in-fact buy one soon if I don't opt for a Line-X spray in.

I have yet to see a drop-in plastic liner that didn't warp in some way and that didn't rub the paint off down to bare metal in spots. Spray in or BedRug/BedTred is definitely the way to go.

I actually worked at Line-x all throughout high school and college here in Louisiana, for about eight years. Line-x is a great product, but if you don't get the premium product, the liner will fade in about a year or so due to the sun.

 

All of these good reviews of the Bed Rug have my interest peaked. The bed rugs are def. on my radar for my new truck as an option.

Ive had Line-x and Rhino in the past, Scorpion caught my attention. I sprayed it in my truck and wow. Not quite as think as the competition but it has held up and things i put in the bed stay in place. It is "tacky". I wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

For my use I prefer a sprayed in bed liner. I never had any trouble with resale on any of my trucks and it always looked good. So I don't know what people are talking about the bedrug being better. It is a good product but it has it limitations as well.

Anyone heard of a brand called "super liner"? A local shop uses that brand, but I was quoted basically the same price for it as I was by Leonard's for line-x.

I have the Dual Liner and it is well worth the money. Cheaper than spray on or bedrug and can be removed when i sell the truck. No complaints so far.
