OEM HID Conversion

I drive a lot at night and really hate the reflector halogen setup my LT has. My BMW's HID's blow this trucks lights out of the water. I didn't know until I saw a LTZ Silverado in a parking lot the other night, they have projector housings with halogen bulbs. Then my wife tells me the 15' Tahoe LTZ come with HID even. So I had a an idea to get the Silverado LTZ projector housings and the HID bulbs and ballasts from a Tahoe. I want a OEM HID system. No $99 Chinese Ebay kit. Thoughts? Input?

Not so simple. The HID will be somehow integrated into the BCM.

I can't offer much advice but thank you for wanting to take the initiative and do it properly. It should be legal to take baseball bats to the halogen housings with HIDs in them. If they blind me in the truck I can only imagine how it is in cars.

Try that to my truck and you'll see where that baseball bat ends up..Just sayin' :driving:

In Texas people have the right to use whatever force in necessary up to lethal force to protect their property. :M16:

I can't imagine that GM would keep the crud projectors from these trucks and throw real HID into them. So what I'm saying is they probably put in real HID projectors. You may be better off letting a shop install some FXR projectors from theretrofitsource.com

Here's a youtube link on the Anzo's, they look like a great replacement to the stock non-projector headlights on the silverado

The 2015 Yukon Denali HIDs are in a projector, not reflector. I assume the Tahoe HIDs are the same way. I too started a thread wondering if it was possible to take the Yukon HIDs and put them in a Sierra. I'm not fond of the aftermarket stuff either.

He is looking to switch to an LTZ headlight with projectors.

If youre going to do a retrofit do your homework and checkout theretrofitsource.com. get fxr projectors not the crappy gm ones.

I would never run HID's in projector housing. Those D-Bags need to be pulled over and beat with sticks. I'll either do the LTZ GM projector housings OR an aftermarket projector housing. But I really don't like aftermarket stuff. I've had HID kits before... they're all made in China. cheap stuff. I'd prefer to get the '15 Tahoe HID's and have the dealer flash the PCM or whatever for them.

I sure hope you meant you'd never run HIDs in a REFLECTOR housing haha.
