Moore84 Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Went out and did mine last night, left the house this morning for the first time forgetting I had done it and tore out of my garage like a bat out of hell! Haha. Stuff like this this is the reason I join these forums, thank you. 2
The One Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 (edited) Awesome information. Purchased a New (used dealer loaner truck with 6700miles) Silverado. The "sluggish" response is my only complaint about this truck. My Uncle purchased a 17 new, and mentioned it when he drove it a few times. I just happened to run across this forum, and being former gear head back in the day, I just wanted to remove the lower air dam, and ran across the gas pedal issue. Had a new paint stick, cut 2 pieces at approx. 1.5 inches, wrapped in duct take, loosened the bottom nut, and shimmed it in there. Took it for a drive, and what a different truck. As many are asking, why would GM use such a crappy plastic design on a very nice truck. BTW, got my 18 for $34,500/MSRP $41+. Bought from dealer as used, but with all new truck "benefits". Profanesix Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 I have an 18 Z71 and I have conplaining since day 1 in December. I drive a 17 F-150 police package for work, standard 5.0 and I have always been a little disgruntled that the Ford was simply quicker in all aspects of throttle response. If you know anything about Ford police packages, it’s just simple electrical work, lights and better parts to help the vehicle run for 24 hours a day.. I will be doing this ASAP.

Speaking of using a crappy piece of plastic on a nice truck. The hood release lever on 2019 silverado/sierra is now made of plastic.

crepitus Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Where exactly does the shim go on trucks with adjustable pedals?
Centex14 Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Right where the pictures show. I haven't had a chance to pull my whole assembly out yet but it's on my list this weekend.
Centex14 Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Well it looks like I solved the problem permanently. Loaded up a canned Diablo tune today. The throttle is so much more responsive now and I haven't even played with the throttle boost settings. The transmission shifts so much nicer as well.
John K. Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 For what it's worth, < $0.01 I'm sure, several days ago I received a online survey from GM about my new truck. Without going into great detail, I explained to them the "paint stick fix" and that I thought the accelerator mounting was a disgrace. $40K for a new pick-up and I/we have follow behind with a saw, a shingle/paint stick and glue to make it run proper. I'm sure they are shaking with fear 1
Sierra Dan Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 I doubt they are shaking with fear..... but more likely shaking their heads as the GM engineers did not design this gas pedal flex solution! LOL
YEGbluesilverado Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I did this to my '16 silverado and wow its perfect now really enjoying the take off from a light and ease to keep speed both in the city and on the highway. 1
lylknutsak Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Also, the design of the pedal has changed to make it stiffer if anyone is interested in "upgrading." F4Gary Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 I don't think it's that the pedal is not stiff enough, it is the panel that it mounts to. That's what is flexing.
