Just curious, never owned a diesel, would there be any advantages having a 1500 w/ a diesel over the 6.2L V8?

Not a diesel that outperforms the 6.2. They have the 2500 for that. I could see some sort of eco-diesel style like dodge is doing but not a larger one

The 720+ lbs of torque is draw dropping!

Don't be dropping no draws around here!

I can only imagine the cost would be compatible to a gas 2500, and the benefits might not be enough to sell it… A diesel 1500 is still going to be limited by the 1/2ton frame. And with the cost of the diesel option, would it be worth it when diesel cost more in most places…

I am probably the minority but the 2500 package is what scared me away from the diesel. I hated the bigger truck esp the ride. I def would consider a diesel in a 1500 but I would assume with the heavier front it would still drive close to the 2500. I'm not one of those "manly men", I want my trucks to drive like a car. When I was test driving I did some 2500 durmax first and they seemed great till I got in the 1500s which were so smooth.

I just don't have the work load to sacrifice the ride/comfort

They should focus more on how to make the nissan titan better looking, that truck is hideous, then possibly add the 5.0 cummins :M16:

They are doing a complete redesign.

think about a turbo diesel with about 20 lb of boost in a 2 wheel drive half ton.... Sign me up.

Not many people would want it, most want a diesel to pull not to drag race.

But if they made one, I would get in line and then boost the hell out of it.

the 2500 is to heavy. Great for pulling, Great for driving, crappy for racing.

The 4.5L "baby" duramax was all set to go back in 08, then the company/economy went south so it was shelved. With a second half ton coming to market, I'm sure GM and Ford will be watching closely to see how it goes. I for one would like to see a 1500 diesel Chevy. :driving:
