Anyone know how to program the remote start to blow hot or cold air depending on the season? Sometimes I get in the truck after the remote start and I'm freezing because the AC is blowing in the AM.

Remote start DOES turn on the heat or a/c as needed, the a/c light is on as it uses it to defrost/get rid of condensation.

You are not feeling heat as it takes longer for the truck to warm up, just look at the temp gauge, it tells the story.

It doesn't automatically adjust.

It turns on to what you left it at. Each night i turn mine to defrost and high.

That way it comes on when I start it.

I guess if you have dual climate control it might auto adjust.

Dual climate is what 99% of these trucks have and it doesn't matter what you set it at as it does what it thanks is needed, once you put the key in and turn it on it will go to your last settings.

I wish I had dual climate. There was not a single regular cab in the country with dual climate and my other options.

Just downloaded the OnStar app, droid anyone having success with this? How long will truck run? Tells me how much gas I got that's kinda cool but all this makes me nervous lol I'm old school,

It will still be 2 10 minute cycles.

You must live around Fairbanks. I lived there for about 8 years. Crazy how -10F will feel warm after a stretch of -40F. Coldest I ever saw was -67F, 20min will not even defrost the window.

Yup Fairbanks. First cold snap this year, if -31F is what you call cold.

How is it not good for the engine to idle?

Extended idle time l has been show to lead to more fuel dilution in the engine oil as detected by used oil analysis. I used to flow up plugs and mess with the cat, but with modern EFI that concern is gone by the wayside. Plus the engine will infact warm up quicker when you are under way. I don't get as cold as some of you do, but I'm ok with getting in a cold truck around 0F

We are talking about a motor that will last 300,000+- miles, I will gladly let it idle to warm my infant up, I don't wait to I get to zero on the oil change reminder anyways.

the truck goes to previous settings if you do not have it in auto during remote start.

My '14 3500 does not, this must be different on the new trucks. I never use auto as I don't like to hear the fan blow.

Mine goes to the settings I left it at when I parked it. But I never use auto so maybe that is why.

I also put an aftermarket remote start in that runs up to 45 mins. 20 mins in minus 40c doesn't even start to blow warm air.

It also turns on the rear defroster when it isn't needed.
