Hey u guru's can the remote start be reprogrammed for more run time? 10 minutes is for the birds in 10 degree weather, or do I have to go buy a aftermarket remote after dropping 40k on a new vehicle?

Can't be changed. You can initiate again during cycle to extend to a total of 20 minutes. But if more time is desired, then go aftermarket.

Why would you want it longer ? It's not good for the engine to just sit there and idle doe that long. If you want it warmer get in and drive it, it will heat up quicker!

I work at 4am, and work outside, I'll let it run,

Been thinking of aftermarket anyway since the range on the remote blows

Remote start will run for 10min., when you get to 9min. hit the lock button and remote start again and it will run for another 10min., if you do this before waiting at least 9min. then it will start the second 10min. at that time.

20min. is plenty of time for even the coldest weather.

I agree when it is bitter cold out 10min. is not enough.

I agree usually 20 is good, this morning it was iced up pretty bad, gotta see where I have things set, because after a 25 min ride nothing was defrosted except mirrors and rear window, love the automatic rear defrost, sometimes after work on bitter cold days with wind I've been known to let it run for 1/2 hour or more, don't think it hurts anything except gas mileage and oil life, but then again maybe there's something I don't know

Was -29 this morning. First cold snap this winter so far, so not too many complaints. Started first time and ran for about 7-8 minutes before i remembered to redo it and let it run for a total of 18 or so before i got in it. It was still cold when I started driving away from my house. No heat output until a few miles down the road. Yes 20 minutes is necessary.

You must live around Fairbanks. I lived there for about 8 years. Crazy how -10F will feel warm after a stretch of -40F. Coldest I ever saw was -67F, 20min will not even defrost the window.

Yup we offer it as part of our custom bcm programming. My truck for example runs for 12 minutes per cycle.

How far out can you take the cycle? Is there a limit?
