Winter starting issue

I have a 2007 Sierra Vortec Max. I live in a part of Ontario that sees winter temps as low as -30 Celsius (-22 Fahrenheit) feeling like -43 (-45 Fahrenheit) with wind chills. If my truck sits for any longer than say 16 hours in the cold my truck will not start with the remote starter. I have even stried it while outside and it clicks once as if it tried then you can here the CD player clicking away. If I use the key it will start but you can hear that the truck is not happy as it takes a second or two to turn over. When it does start the clock is at 12:00 like the battery was disconnected. There are even times that the battery is dead and won't turnover at all. Battery is only 2 years old. Any thoughts?

The control module will check a few setting before starting the engine. Like oil level, battery charge, parking brake, shift lever position etc.

If one of those is not within the default parameters the remote start won't work.

That means if your battery charge is to low nothing's gonna happen.

Sounds to me like a bad connection. Check and clean all connections. Also test your battery just for good measure.

When its cold my clock will do funny things and change on its own in my 02. Did this today in fact.

After you check the afore mentioned battery cables and connections I would also get your battery tested. Doesn't matter how young or old a battery is, bad is bad.

kris35 - look up the CCAs (cold cranking amps) for that battery versus what's needed for your vehicle. CCAs usually becomes a factor when temps dip and you don't have the appropriate battery amps to turn-over larger engines. This could happen with a new battery
