is there a sound difference between dual rear or dual side in sound? or is it just pure looks?

Yes, the flapper (adaptive) valve make the difference. It gives you more low end power and torque by giving more back pressure when in V4 mode and cuts the "drone" helicopter sound. You need some back pressure and with a large diameter exhaust pipe, you do need back pressure in V4 mode. I've read where some members have tied their valve open on their factory system and gotten the dreaded drone sound. If you get drone on a factory system with a resonator just think what drone you'll have on a performance muffler with no resonator. The drone on my Gibson was terrible especially at highway cruising speeds and even in town. If you get any system without the valve, being Gibson, Magna Flow, Flowmaster etc. you won't be satisfied. They're cheaper but not worth the savings. A good muffler shop could cut the OEM pipe behind the valve then you could put your own custom exhaust on if this was the way you wanted to go. Member krdeal said his GM/Borla didn't come with the balance tube but had the valve on it but mine had the valve and balance tube.

I am contemplating getting the Gibson Dual Sport system, is the "drone" sound really that noticeable? My other option was the Corsa system. Thanks!

I have the Corsa sport in a 2015 5.3 and the helicopter sound in v4 mode is awful. I talked to their tech support a few times and they insisted this wasn't drone but rather a byproduct of misfires. Whatever, it sounds like crap. I went with a Range AFM disabler and it sounds like what I would expect now. I would've returned the exhaust it if wasn't a pain to switch back.

I hee-haw'd around for couple weeks deciding to go after market, order the Borla thru dealer or go GM. Touring, sport or ATAK? After searching I don't need to to by that loud to wake the wife up coming home LOL. Touring fine for me.

Ordered a 2016 Silverado w/ 6.2L. CC std box. I actually even called Borla for more details and he said "they don't make an exhaust for 6.2L CC Std Box, that I HAVE to go through GM for that exhaust. So that basically answered my decision. I did end up ordering it, as truck will be in end of month, so looking forward to it!

As I did my research and read other forums about drone, flapper, etc etc, so, the more I thought about it, why bother will less expensive exhaust if it's not going to perform well. I also like the fact that GM takes care of it if any issues should arise.

Anywho, just my two cents. I appreciate all the comments on here, very informative also in the decision making.

If I remember I'll make vid and post link. I'll try out the gopro.

From a few of the pictures, it looks like the GM Borla system has to be welded together. I thought it could be changed out at home. How is the system put together? I am planning on ordering the system from www.gmpartsnow.com. Free shipping over $150 and a 10% veteran discount. It runs about $1035.

No welding. All bolt on with quality clamps. Needs to be on a lift to get factory exhaust off without cutting it off.

Got mine ordered and on the way. Thinking about doing tips like this instead of the Borla tips. I'll probably take it to the muffler shop and do a mock up of some options before I decide.
