Installed Borla/GM cat-back Exhaust System

I have a like new set of Gibson slash cut rolled edge polished stainless tips that are bolt on/clampless. 2.25 inlet 4" outlet which fit the Borla system perfect. I'll let them go for reasonable and much cheaper than the Borla tips. If anyone is interested let me know.

You can get the factory exhaust off without cutting and without a lift. At least on a crew cab short box. I did mine by myself and it was pretty easy - just jack up the backend as far back on the frame as you can. Just need to get it high enough so the axle hangs as far as possible - from there you just need to twist to get it out. Start by pushing it back to clear the crossmember then it comes out towards the front of the truck.

Forgot to mention that you should lower the spare as well to get it out of the way. Doesn't need to come off, just lowered and swung to the side.

will the borla cat back have any effect on the noise change v4/v8 louder, same?

The Borla version should have a little more noticeable noise between v4/v8 vs the GM Borla version with the flapper. I can barely hear mine with the flapper clamped open with my Borla buffler and resonator cut out.

Has anyone recently installed this exhaust? I just received mine and the "exhaust bypass" looks like this. It certainly looks different the the other ones in this thread. I emailed Borla but have not received a response. I'm just wondering if I received the correct part or Borla has changed it for some reason. Thanks for any assistance. post-155757-0-23002500-1468728434_thumb.jpeg

Is yours for a 5.3? I have a 6.2 and I got mine (love it by the way) last Saturday and mine has the small "bypass" tube.

Well I received some news today from two different sources that said GM changed the design to have an internal bypass. One source was the vendor I purchased the exhaust from and the other was from Borla corporate. If you are purchasing new, the exhaust will not have the external bypass tubing. I'll let you know how it sounds when I have time to install this weekend. Thanks for the assistance.

Anyone have comments on the interior noise with the ATAK? Does it have any drone?

There is no drone with the ATAK at cruising speeds. I have one installed on my '16 5.3L.

I ended up buying one too. The v4 is something less than desirable... But I love it under acceleration !

I hear you about the V4. I read you can get rid of that mode altogether with a tune, but it doesn't bother me enough to do that.
