Hey guys, question for you all..

Is it possible to swap the 5.3l for the 6.2? I have found a website where I can actually order a brand new 6.2l motor, but I want to know what else (if anything) would need to be replaced (Except for Manifolds/Exhuast as I would be running all new parts there aswell).

Would this motor require heavy modification to put in? (Ie does it bolt up to the same transmission as the 5.3 ect..)

I am also looking to possibly twin turbo this motor (However I have only been able to find superchargers) Could anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks :)

New Era Performance has a Twin Turbo set up. They just finished making it about 3 months ago.

Would it not be cheaper to trade your truck for a 6.2 version (used anyway)? Unless you're looking to do it to a Regular Cab short box  Which would be sweet.

I was going to say the same thing, but then I thought the same thing considering you have to have at least an LTZ to get a 6.2 from the factory

That and in a RC, as of yet, you can't get the 6.2 at all. What's the plan OP?

It should be as easy as it was on the previous gen trucks. Externally, the engines are all the same so you can easily swap them from one vehicle to the next while using all the same parts. Really, the only difference from the 5.3L to the 6.2L is the displacement and compression.

I'm currently in the middle of a 5.3L -> 6.2L swap for my 2010 regular cab and the hardest part was simply tracking a engine down (which really wasn't that bad).

Isn't the rear diff bigger on the 6.2? What about the computer also....

It's a quarter inch bigger. People run the old 8.6 rear end with a built lq9. I'm pretty sure the 9.5 would hold the 6.2L power easily. With turbos though, it may need to be built

All that is pretty neat but if you run E85 in the 5.3 you get within 40HP of the 6.2. I would look elsewhere, like a gear or a blower. If you have the ability to do an engine swap a blower would be easy. Now if you are getting the 6.2 for next to nothing or have a bad 5.3. that may change the game.

What website did you find to purchase one from? Would love to see updates on this if you actually happen to do it.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the info!

I currently own a 2014 crew cab short box. the reason I wont be trading it in is a paid in full for it and plan on doing a massive build. Im looking into lifts and such right now as well as doing the motor swap to a 6.2l twin turbo setup. I found a motor direct from GM 6.2 for my truck for roughly $4,500 plus shipping. I cant go into much detail about the project yet, but I will be posting pictures, reviews and links to all the parts I recieve. Your input is greatly appreciated. any sugestions/ideas will defenately be taken into consideration.
