Same here, none of the new build homes use or have the outside locking handle anymore. One of the reasons I was told is people would go by and turn the handle from the outside locking the door and then you would try to use the GDO and damage it. Plus people would be locked out of the home as some don't carry house keys anymore, though we do still carry keys and have one hidden outside as well.

Been slacking off, it is moving right along. Sheetrock is done and storm shelter is in. Looking to a mid February move in date.

Final update, house is pretty much done. Couple if minor paint touch ups and waiting on the correct shower door to be installed. Other than that never really had any major issues, only 3 things came up along the build that had to be corrected. Already got installers lined up to put in the ceiling speakers downstairs, move the gun safe and get everything setup for when we move. Close on the house in 3 weeks, now if we could just get our old house sold it would be a perfect ending.

This is the only recent one I have as of now, hard to take a pic of the whole garage. The 2 car side is almost 30' deep and is 24' wide (extra 4' in depth and width), the 3rd car is the normal size. I had extra lighting put in up front and had a 240v outlet put into the hot water tank closet so I can put my air compressor in the closet as well to keep it out of sight and as a noise insulator.

I have lived here for almost 40 years, personally I don't feel the need for one. I pay attention to the weather and stay aware of it constantly. The wife wants one as she is from WI and is not fond of the Nader's we have here. Plus it is a selling feature when it comes time to sell the home.
