900 miles on my replacement transmission and clunking is continually getting worse just like the original tranny. about 4,200 total miles on my truck.

I'm with ya. I'm willing to risk warranty at this point. My frustration grows more everyday.

I felt the same and took the plunge...I had Justin (Black Bear in town) tune my truck. NIGHT AND DAY. My truck is like a new sports car...It really goes (doesnt fall on it face after shifting) and just keeps going...it feels and sounds so cool ( slight rumble -muffler delete only-when it shifts quickly ) No laggin or severe drops in rpm after shifting. I am so ecstatic,,Its like awakening a beast !

PS. He did tell me of a new "trick" to make his file modding not easily seen by the service dealer...I did get the autocal just in case I need to load my stock tunes back in .

Well after reading the consumer reports auto edition, they rated sierra and silverado horrible for a used car purchase in the future, and low strikes for reliability. They also stated the trucks felt very sluggish, much to do with the transmission I am sure. The GM engineers know damn good and well the issues with these trucks, and are not blind to these forums. I hope they get there poop in a group and start addressing these issues with headlights, heated seats, and transmission programming. In this day and age the issues can be easily fixed with a new program, and new updated parts. GM needs to step up to the plate and handle their customer base, before they lose their loyalist's. A newly revised and built pickup should never be worse than its previous versions. Sure first model years will have quirks, but they should be fixed.

Don't get me wrong, after my transmission update my truck is night and day better, and I still love my truck, just disappointing with the amount of money spent that gm seems to be ignoring these basic issues.

I looked at black bears site and I am a little confused on all the pricing. I never did a tune before but would really like to get this tranny running the way it should because it looks like GM is not going to do anything anytime soon. How much is a basic engine and tranny tune and how difficult is it to do? Thanks, this would be for a 14 with a 4.3litre

I was just looking around too. I have had my truck about a month now and I honestly get pissed every time I drive it. 5,000 miles now and it's still feeling off. Drove the wife's Enclave today and that transmission shifts so ****ing well it feels like a CVT. Got back in my truck and more disappointment....

All we can do is keep letting the dealers know so they can document issues and hope GM follows through with a TSB.

It worked on the crappy GMC headlights.

Now they have a fix for that. PIT5374/Document#4093100.

So had my truck at the dealer to replace the heated seat for the second time (first time only did passenger seat) and my service advisor who is also a friend of mine who owns a 14 sierra said I would love my truck when I pick it up.

Turns out gm came out with a transmission programming update for my 14 GMC Sierra. My truck has the 5.3l and 3.42 gears.

I cannot believe how much better my truck feels! The transmission shift points are soooo much more improved than before, shifts are quicker, but not necessarily more firm, although maybe slightly. But again the truck feels amazing, like a totally different vehicle. So much more responsive, give it a little gas and it snaps right into the gear I would choose if I had a manual, and feels so much more intuitive overall. After driving around all afternoon and this evening I have completely fallen back in love with my truck. I will admit that this to me was the biggest downfall with the truck after owning it for 6500 miles, but I love love love the responsiveness in my truck now!

I have done tunes on previous vehicles over the years with programmers etc, and even open source tuning but can say I have never experienced a difference in a vehicle like I did with this.

So to make a long story short, call your dealer and see if they have the update available, you will not regret it!!!

Hopefully this helps out a lot of people, and I am very interested to hear what other people think. Please comment on if you have this done what you think of the difference!

Edit, this is a beta version that is not global on gm yet. I will update when my advisor states this is ready globally.

Any chance this will eventually also apply to 6L50 transmission used in 2015 Colorado and Canyon? Poor transmission shifting, both up and down with long lags between shifts, and generally unpredictable shifting is a common complaint in the new 2015 midsize trucks. I very much like everything about my 2015 Colorado Z71 except the weird transmission behavior.

As a point of comparison, for a week, I had a loaner 2015 Silverado with the 4.3 V6 and 6L80 transmission, while not a speedster, it was a pleasure to drive and transmission acted as it should have ... and it is not a matter of break-in time as that Silverado had less than 100 miles on it.

Many folks are optiing for after-market tunes to fix their 2015 Colorado / Canyon shifting, but not wanting to risk voiding the warranty, I'm hoping that GM will come out with a TSB and reflash to fix the GM31xx transmissions very, very soon ... I'd gladly volunteer to let GM practice with my truck if that's what it will take.

Meant to mention while my truck was in for headlights he checked to see if any other updates were available, there was a update for clunking tranny, so far so good my truck seems to be better, although I only drove it home, will update later after another drive and update numbers on my receipt
