You are the sucker, you believe he has a GM tune from his racer friend? chump

Without hopes and dreams, there's not much to look forward to. It gives hope that the fix is coming soon and we can all dream about when it will arrive and what the TSB will look like lol. I don't see why anyone would just post something that's a lie. It's not like most/any of us know the OP, so he's not trying to impress us. That's my thoughts on it at least.

Other than a couple certain hills I drive up that the truck seems to get lost on what gear to go to and how many cylinders it needs to climb it, it has gotten a lot better with the 4k some odd miles I've driven it compared to how it was with 1 mile on it.

Skeet, that's kinda sums up exactly how I feel about mine now, 1 month in with 2300 on the odometer.

I've heard of others getting ECM/TCM Flashed for clunky shifting.

Quick Search found this post. (Check out PI1029 on PG 7)

On a side note.....could I just get a tuner and flash it on my own and then tell the dealer the next time I bring the truck in that the reason my ECM/TCM was flashed is because on was on a beta trial from another dealer but since it's trial version they don't have it listed in the service record. Juusst maayyybeee I can keep my warranty....eh?

Trial would be connected to the serial number...

Hmmm....interesting. So my Hypertech programmer for 2000 Sierra 5.3L was registered to my truck serial number.....and therefore I couldn't use the Programmer again on any other truck (let's say my friends) because it was already programmed and linked to my truck. So how would a dealer then perform a beta/trial tune on multiple trucks if it is registered to a specific serial number?

You would think the dealers would just have a software update....and that update is available to everyone. Hook up the truck and give me the latest update? I'm not sure how it then is linked to serial number??

Just throwing this out there.....

What if you started an email discussion with GM complaining about the poor shift quality. Explain in the email that this can be fixed with a custom tune, when they tell you that a custom tune will void the warranty you can push back on them for not fixing the issue. If you do go with a custom tune maybe you can use the email as justification when you are battling with GM to keep your warranty!

Just a thought!

GM can put updates in the system by VIN, then the dealer flashes the update to the module.

I just don't know why I have to tune my brand new truck so it fixes the piss poor drivability. F that. Gm needs to step up here. By the way those gm reps on here are NO where to be found. Just as I predicted. When everything is rosy , they are always posting. But in these cases they know better then to show up.

I swear to God this is BS. GM replaced my 8 speed tranny with 3200 miles on it because it was clunking every time you left a stop light. Now 650 miles on this replacement tranny and the symptoms are slowly starting to return. On monday I'll decided if I'm gonna trade this POS in for a 5.3 6 speed.

I am going to jump in on this one, as I know this is not true. They reached out to me privately when they saw me posting about my transmission woes, which led to a nice lengthy phone discussion, which led to them helping my dealer get a new transmission on the way faster to solve my issue. Do they do that to everyone? I doubt it, but I know a broad brush statement as yours is not true based on personal experience.
