I have 74,000km and my previous vehicles recommended changining after 100,000. I like to do maintenance before it's recommended. Plus, then I can share my experience with other.

You might have already planned to do this but be sure to take pics and note which spark plug came from what cylinder.

Thanks in advance!

OM says first recommended change is 155,000 km /97,000 miles.

If you go ahead, let us know what you find!

If you gap plugs properly you won't disturb the Iridium on the center and ground electrode. Key is PROPER! And if you don't know how... do some research.

They can NOT be gapped without disturbing the coating. Factory plugs are DO NOT GAP plugs and come set 040. Most aftermarket iridium plugs are do not gap plugs also. They are ready to go out of the package.

Hey FED POPO... Read post #10! You gap plugs without touching the damn tip anyway, you bend the ground electrode from the side no the tip. I would never assume that the gap stays consistent being that the box get tossed around during shipment LMFAO!!!! That...my friend would be foolish!

If you ain't anywhere close to the 97k gm recommends, you are wasting your time and money with this effort.

The factory plugs will survive until then easily.

Sometimes a vehicle's biggest problem isn't an owner who never does any maintenance, but one who thinks they need to dick around with every little thing!

I found this old thread with a reference to a 2007 bulletin saying that the plugs shouldn't be gapped if they aren't per the spec. No reason is stated. I can only assume that the dealerships were experiencing damage. What kind of damage? I dunno.

...and another from 2007

I searched the net through ACD literature and did not find anything about gapping nor any cautions about it. Only the above posts of the bulletin from 8 years ago and the tech connect literature. I couldn't find any contemporary literature cautioning on gapping..

Would you recommend  changing plugs  at 35,000kms or is that to early?
