2014/2015 AFM oil usage?

Before my range AFM delete and 1st oil change at 3k miles, she hadn't used a drop. Given I'm in the hill country, V4 was CONSTANTLY turning on and off, probably as much as someone in the flat lands would experience within 5 times the miles I've gone. The darn V4/8 thing was like a blinker on my dash when I would watch it. I've also dumped a lot of crud out of my catch can and do every 400 miles. Still haven't seen a change in my oil level but I can't imagine the constant switching would have been good in the long run.

Interested to see others experience with higher miles.

using/loosing about half a quart every 2000 miles. only use Mobil 1 0/20 full synthetic. my 2008 crew seemed to start using/loosing half a quart or more every 3000 miles with conventional oil. I use a range module to stop the afm, but now I am hearing a lot about it "throwing" codes. I can honestly say I am very confused about how many problems I am having with this truck for how much money it was. 5th brand new Chevy since 1996.

37,500 miles on my 2014 and I haven't noticed any consumption. I have been changing the oil around 7500 miles and the level on the dipstick is the same as when I filled it.

62,000 miles now and still no oil consumption.

I'm still a firm believer all this is centered around how well your rings seated during the break in period.

34,500 miles and no oil consumption issues. Someone said on here a month ago that this was a overwhelming problem with the 2014+ models, but based on the replies, it doesn't seem to be like with the previous gen.

Yep! 36,000 miles and from day one have not had to add any oil between changes. Right on the mark every time.

I've done a lot of Googling and the number of guys reporting oil consumption with 2014+ trucks is miniscule. Many were due to guys that weren't parkinng on a level surface when they pulled the dipstick (yes, really). Others later realized their crappy AC Delco filter was leaking. A few were probably legitimate issues but that's to be expected. There will always be a small percentage of engines that consume a little oil regardless of who made it. Toyota, Honda, Subaru, etc all have complaints about OC. Gm has sold nearly 2 million Silverados and Sierras since the 2014+ model came out, 60-70% of those being 1500's. There should hundreds if not thousands of guys reporting oil consumption.

Seems like word of mouth bs getting spread around. A guy that doesn't like GM trucks heard from his buddy that their cousin works at a dealer and the new 5.3's are burning oil. Suddenly it must be true and the rumor makes its way online.

My 2014 Silverado truck uses about 1 quart of oil for every 2000 miles driven. Dealer told me this is acceptable. Dash light came on that oil level is low. Do not drive any longer until oil added. This was after 4700 miles. took 3 quarts of oil. I am working with the dealer to resolve this issue
