Switched to e85.

After being tuned for 93 octane I made the switch to e85. Seeing if anyone 5.3 or 4.3 has done the same and what kind of actual hp/tq difference they have had and track time improvements they have seen. Other then the mpg change which I knew would happen it seems to get up to speed smoother. I will get a data log soon with it and let you know what I see hp/tq wise and track numbers once I go.

Thanks!

2013 Gen IV 5.3l: 315hp/335 ft lbs torque on E10

2014/2015 Gen V 4.3l: 297hp/330 ft lbs torque on E85

The 10% power advantage the last gen 5.3l has over your 4.3l pretty goes away on E85.

My last data log with 93 octane and the mods I have it was reading 320hp and 335tq. That was before switching to e85. Was just seeing tuned if the DI motors were seeing the same hp/tq gains stock vs tuned. For example with me already at 320hp/335tq with a 93 octane tune could I see a jump to 330hp/360tq on e85 tuned? I mean I will see next time I can meet up with my tuner and get a data log on e85 but seeing if anyone has checked that already.

Running E85 has another benefit over giving more HP, it also cleans up the inside of the engine better than any fuel additive ever could. Terry Dyson from Dyson Analysis is seeing great results from used oil analysis coming in where the vehicle was run on E85 exclusively.

Even in his old Honda Civic with 245k miles on it runs better and his UOA's are turning out better than when running regular gas.

You should see more than a jump in 10whp tune or no tune if the manufacturer claims an increase of 25 @ the motor

I for one can absolutely notice SOTP difference from 93 to E85 on an otherwise stock 2014 5.3, and I don't think I would notice only 10whp

After reading this thread I drove to the only e-85 station near me which is at the airport. I noticed quite a difference in power versus 87. Well worth the price difference. e-85 is $2.99 vs 87 at $2.20 in my area.

E85 is more there? It's .50 cheaper here.

Cheaper here as well. 2.29 for 87 1.98 for e85. I ran 93 normally before switching which is 2.69 so .72 cents for me.
